yeah, but there's no easy way to set minimum donation amounts in paypal (without scripting, as charlie mentioned)

Sorry, I didn't read all the replies. But yea, some things are worth learning or getting someone's else script for. But I know this kind of feeling, you want to do something, and in order to do it perfectly you need to learn something new. So you choose to do something not as good, just to not learn this new thing. It is the kind of behaviour I am slowly able to change. Not sure if it's your case as well. Just a thought.

oh, i wouldn't mind learning php at all, i've been meaning to for some time, it's just that there was a deadline in this case -- it was an xmas sale after all
besides, i do like the idea of pay whatever you want, and i'm not sure i really like the idea of a minimum payment of 1 dollar anyway, it seems like it'd be less newsworthy if it was 'pay whatever you want, but it has to at least be a dollar'. and having a minimum amount might kind of encourage more people to only give that amount, since they see it as 'recommended'. so it's not really clear-cut that having a minimum amount of a dollar would actually work better or not.
what i might do is have a 'top n' chart/list for the people who have donated the most, to encourage higher donations -- so far that's three 20$'s

Paul,
I've sent you the script and html code now, it's just a simple javascript, and the paypal code will work without you needing to set anything up in your paypal account once you've changed my details to yours.
If you get stuck give me a shout.
Cheers Charlie

now i'm not sure i want to change it half-way, but will look into it -- perhaps a 32 cent minimum or something instead of 1 dollar would work, can it be easily adapted to that?

I think so, have a look at the js file, and see if you can change the 1 to 0.32

Just bought it! Super good game Paul. I had heard about it for a while but sort of stayed away from it because I don't like those types of games so much, but gave the demo a try tonight and bought the full game just minutes ago!

I don't really want to play your game. I mean, I'm sure it's good and whatever but I don't have the effort within me to play a game. However, if I paypal you some money will you get a haircut?

Ok, no irony. I will pay you money to shave and get a haircut. All I want in return is that you shave and get a haircut.

I don't know. You tell me and I will pay it. Go outdoors and find out.
Also you should probably get some rimless glasses, but I'm not enough of an aesthetic philanthropist to buy that for you. But a haircut. Well. This is a different matter.

(10:45:29) evajolli: should be like 5 bucks thru 20 bucks for hair cut (10:45:48) evajolli: depends on how snoby the barber is so there you have it, $20 to $5 for a haircut in this day and age. that's like five copies of cave story, or 5cs

Further, if you are poor, you can get men in Hong Kong to make glasses for you really cheap. Exploit the global economy!!! Cast away these laws of lesser men! http://www.optical4less.com/
