After being inspired by Bones awesome picture. Beer!
I felt that concept had to be brought to some sort of life.
So I present Air Samurai[working title] a game about flying though the air and chopping down WWII paratroopers

Due to my crappy programmer art, the guy isn't a samurai right now and the sprites are basically images I shrunk down and cleaned up the edges.

TRY IT:
play the most up to date ver on my host HERE
or you can play before I added the parachute guys on swfcabain HERE
Arrow keys to move, Z to attack

Things of note
  • the "sword" grapic is just a place holder for hitbox, hopefully the animation will pick up the slack
  • Parachute guys, I am planing on having them shoot at you.
  • Maybe adding other things like planes or bombs, it's all up in the air(no pun)
  • Maybe adding powerups, like jumping off your sword to regain alt[like this], or being able to jump from one guy to the next in a insta-kill mode.
Feedback and suggestions are welcomed and needed.  Gentleman so is art, lol

Also Bones if you have any problem with my going off your idea/concept, let me know and I'll move on to another idea. Gentleman

Added the ability for them to shoot at you but it really wasn't fun. Also then tried to double the width to give you more room to dodge.

I don't think I am gonna pursue them shooting at you.

other ideas:
  • Bomber run, drops bombs you have to dodge
  • ?? Huh? ??
I think, I want something to reset your multiplier.

Also thinking about powerups
  • Jump off sword to regain alt
  • Insta kill teleport mode
  • ton ofguys come at once thing
  • longer sword powerup?

the horizontal acceleration is ridiculously slow right now WTF
that and the air friction - i think it'll be a lot more fun once that's fixed Smiley Hand Thumbs Up Right

I like the premise of this.  So great  Cheesy

One thing that would make it seem like you are falling really fast would be to shoot the blood up really quickly after it comes out of the guys.

If you can imagine trying to squirt a water bottle during a free fall, the water would just fly up because of its density and friction.  Blood is mostly water, so it would work the same way.  The end result would give you a better feeling of falling really fast.

I love that the parachutes take off with the top halves of the body it's priceless.
Maybe if you hit parachutes you can get all tangled.

I'm thinking for the end, you should like hit the ground, and then all the body parts you cut off should like fall onto the ground.

And you should maybe jump off the guys without parachutes?

This reminds me of one of my early games where you had to catch falling soldiers with a boat.

It is an interesting idea, and once expanded on could be quite fun.  Powerups would be a good idea.  Having a plane drop a bomb from time to time which you must avoid would make the game more interesting...  Basically, it sounds like you have it all covered as far as future updates are concerned Smiley

I didn't find the shooting to be annoying.  I think it should stay in, but maybe make it a somewhat rare event.

Awesome feedback guys. I had put this project on the back burner while I figured out how I wanted gameplay to 'feel'. But now with all these words of encouragement, I'm jumping back on.  Beer!

yeah, that's gonna go in during the "lets add things that make it feel more complete" phase

Hmmmm, I'll return to the idea, maybe make it more 'announced' that they are firing/gonna fire
