idea: the tigsource community is quite tightly knit (relatively) but in business affairs i seems like the "cool" thing to do is for each person to cut their own path through by hatchet.

how about a website that would collect and manage sales of indie games like all the casual games people do? We could even have one of those fancy downloading apps.

I fully endorse. Something on the lines of casualcharts.com would be a very nice endgoal.

ModDB is launching something like this. Looks to be awesome.

I think we'd be good to see how the ModDB thing rolls out first.  If that's a flop though, I do think the idea is interesting (despite all the practicality and logistics concerns).

Something like this was kicked up awhile ago, sort of like an indie games Steam client, but I think it was Ivan who was programming it and he got swept up with other work and couldn't finish it.  It was linked up to TIGdb in some manner.

It'd be really rad though, like a big fish portal for uhh.. good games.

as discussed in irc i like the idea but i think getting traffic is the hard part, the logistics of setting it up is relatively easy.

i do wish one of those indie game downloadable clients would actually be finished / usable though.

a steamesq distribution system might be nice (minus the part where you have to download a client)it would also be fairly simple to make.

what about a "tig" section in the major portals?

solves two problems of getting traffic (it would already exist) and implementation (...it would already exist) with one stone.

negative would be not "owning" the marketplace...

What's in it for the portals? Unless they think the TIGS name is going to draw them a lot of extra traffic, they'd just be diluting their trademark for no reason.
