Snow?

Or white death from one of the clouds?

I got a new computer, so this runs great now. Keep up the good work!

Thank you sir.

Once I get snow and ice melting correctly,
the seasons will be entirely dependent on gradual temperature change.
The only big problem is it all happens at 30 degrees,
so it will seem sort of sudden if I don't work it in correctly.

In other news, a day/night cycle is in the works.

Tons of update.

First off, there are day and night.
The transition is sort of bad.
It's too dark during the day, not dark enough during the night.

Shadows are in too.
As in, things underground are dark, and trees cast a small shadow.

And most importantly:
Seasonal changes!
The year is 200 days long, each day at 4000 frames.
Every 50 days is a temperature pattern change.
Snow starts mid-fall through mid-spring.
Trees only pollinate during the spring.

Here are some screens of the test map,
which I ran for a full 4 hours at high speed to make it around the year.
On second thought, I should have taken a screen of the initial map, and of fall,
but I didn't think it would make it all the way around.

Winter:

The snow got higher than that building at its deepest.

Spring:

When the snow melted, the resulting flood took that building apart.

Summer:

After a whole year, the grass is pretty messed up,
but I intend to have that fixed by next version.

Unless you intend to play past an entire year,
it should not be an issue.
(like 10 hours at intended speed without saving capabilities)

Anyways, here is the save:
Cloud Scream 0.43 (Days and Seasons)

I'll be polishing it tomorrow, and uploading again with day/night looking better,
and grass being more industrious with its expansion.

This looks really very interesting
and then I play it
and I have nooooo fucking clue what's going on

I think I died once?

But it looks real neat.

Biggest problems I had were the awkward controls (e and r for vertical movement?) and the way I had to keep pressing c to see anything when I went into buildings.

But yeah...interesting is really all I can say regarding content because I have no idea where you're going with this.

Muahaha!

I will be changing the controls again at some point,
 and it will be better.

Yeah, this is one of those nonsense-ly worlds
where you just sort of discover it as you go along.
Not really enough random mayhem yet for it to be thorough,
 but some day...

Here is a list of things mostly added for the next release:

- Advanced AI
- Random Name Generator
- HUD (Maybe) (Maybe)
- Persistent Saving
- Herd/Pack Logics
- Seasons will work for real
- Lots of little things that make it seem more intuitive

Sorry, expect a release either tomorrow or the next day.

Here's a list of the first 20 names/words my generator popped out, honest:

- Oakotros
- Recresh
- Ploacocro
- Mosh
- Crow
- Frimoong
- Ciples
- Miocoth
- Grug
- Isis

- Med
- Agricios
- Geen
- Tul
- Fan
- Rock
- Efigrerf
- Curoa
- Greth
- Nek

10% of the credit goes to someone called Alfie,
 for getting me going,
and 10% goes to my woman,
for helping me identify missing consonants and vowels.

If I can get text printing onscreen, I'll be adding in a ton of last second features,
because I am always in a rush to release something people can play around with.

Woah woah woah...now don't get me wrong the feature list is awesome, can't wait to toy with the new release but we have a more pressing issue here...your woman is Carol Vorderman?! (sadly I realize only people from the UK will most likely actually get this...so back me up here British people or I'll look like a tit!)

Oh sorry, I am America-bound. (Not that I don't want to leave)

Anyways, I'm currently accepting music and sound effects for my game.
I need somebody good with audio editing to add a few seconds of silence a rain track for me.

I would like to find music that is tranquil as cake.
Something that really makes you relax and not care about stuff.

And of course, it will have to be interrupted by silence every now and then...

That way you feel relieved when you have escaped the creature.

This new addition to the responsibility train
sets back the next release at least until Thursday.
Sorry dudes.

This isn't dead, I swear.
There have actually been two releases since the last one.
I just didn't post them here because they aren't substantial yet,
and there are issues I'd like to handle first.

Here's a list of things added since last time:
(I'm probably forgetting a few)

Oh god, I just realized you guys are still on the seasons update.
Well, that really sucks.

I might as well list a few notable changes off the top of my head:

- There is full sound and screen text
- There be magma, crust, fire, smoke and steam
- The map generation is completely redone (map complexity increase)
- There are tons of random map features added straight from my imagination
(most of these give me the impulse to climb all around and over them excitedly
- Magic crystals underground and tons of spells.

The crystals can be used to do all sorts of crazy things.

Here are a few examples:

Cast > Destroy Sphere > Size: 4 > Cost: 4
Cast > Create Sphere > Material: Fire > Size: 6 > Cost: 9
Cast > "Rain Dance" > Material: Lava > Size: Any > Cost: 50

Reread that last one a couple times.

I've been sort of lazy up until lately.
I will probably release the next version on this board,
since I've been sort of neglecting it.

There were only like four views in a three week period.
I lost the will to update it.
That might change soon.

I'm expecting as hard as I can!  Angry

Expect it to come out tomorrow.

I can hardly remember all of the changes I've made,
 but among them are:

- Magma, Fire, Smoke, Steam, Ash
- Crystals and Magic
- Text Menus
- Terraces and Plateaus
- Collapse Plants
- Varied Rain Intensity
- Increased Camera Speed

Any others?

The new controls include pressing capital 'C' to bring up the cast menu.

There is a naming system in place for the creatures,
but it still needs some work before it will be appearing in game.
If you stay near a creature for a few seconds,
its name will print in the console window.

It's awesome to not check the forums for a month and come back and find that this is still alive.

The textures are kickass.

I gotta download the newest version now.

Really loving the look of this, downloading it now! Also, you might want to update the OP with this link. It brought me to Rapidshare last time I clicked it. And the 10 download limit on rapidshare has been met.

I also know who is working on the music for this, I am quite excited about that too :D!
