It's still a challenge to see what can be packed into 4k bytecode. That might be more, compared to x86 machine code, being allowed to use the full java runtime, but a challenge it is.

I'm amazed to see all this of VVVVVV condensed into 4k bytecode Hand Thumbs Up Left

Well, you pretty much have to use APIs on modern OSes since only drivers can access the hardware directly, and you couldn't support all the different hardware out there anyway.  As long as the APIs used are just hardware abstractions and doesn't add anything too specific (eg sprites are ok, full fledged platform engine is not), I don't see why it shouldn't count.  (Of course, the less you use the more challenging it is Smiley)
