I like it, except that some of the lighting bothers me, I'll be back with a quick edit.

Edit:

I think that's better. I have to get to playing knytt sometime to get a better idea of how this should look.

I do like this one better, nice work on the highlights; my Line tool is broken, so there's no simple way to replace those colors.

Actually I didn't do much. I just replaced the white he had with a darker (yet still light) shade.

We should use particle effects for the water or something so it doesn't look so stagnant.

A mist would be very cool.

Knytt Stage: I know it's not done, but there's really not much space for the opponents to fight on those two tiny pillars, and that's with 2 people. Imagine if there's four!

I don't know if that's that bad of a thing.  Sure it may not be a stage which is viable for a four player game, but there will be plenty of stages that are.  Having one stage be a bit cramped makes it unique and worthy for two people who want to have a constant close quarters fight.

all stages should be suitable for all amounts of players. i thought widening the platforms would be a good idea but then there would be very little distinction between it and lyle stage as a basic no frills stage.

Why not add a couple higher platforms on either side, or maybe a little overgrown ruined temple structure with a second level?

That would be fine, but changing the level could be as simple as just making the platforms wider.

Does anyone have the graphics for this stage stored as multiple layers? Or should I just try to separate them myself?
