I desperately want to upgrade my lite version of Game Maker 8 to the pro version, but every time i attempt to click the 'upgrade' link on Game maker Internet explorer fails me and leaves me this frustring error message:

I really don't know what to do. My internet connection is absolutely fine, so i'm not sure how to get around this. There's no other way to upgrade other than that link and it won't work. I've tried uninstalling game maker and reinstalling several times.

Any help is much, much appreciated,

I would definitely try it in another browser.

It was my understanding you didn't even need a browser, anyway.. I registered GM7 fine, without needing to open my browser.

Sorry to leave this so late before getting back, but problem sorted! Turned out all i need to do was turn my firewall off. Silly me :/
