i would like to include social gaming features into my iphone game (due to frequent request from players). the game (Doppelgänger - an arcade version of memory/pairs/matches) incorporates only a global leaderboard (using cocoslive.net) at this time and i am especially in need of a more localized approach, e.g. challenging your buddies.

i looked into OpenFeint a little, but i feel that it is quite obtrusive and can also be quite slow. it also has tons of features i do not really need. however, i do like the "no signup" approach.

has anyone collected some experience with openfeint or other similar frameworks?
which of them can be used without the need to put logos and buttons everywhere?
at what point does scoreloop require payments from users?
has agon a significant user base?

thanks for sharing your experience!

If you wish to make a video game from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

Facebook will give you massive exposure relative to the other options.  If you incorporate all the channels, you'll be able to get vastly more users than you would otherwise.  It's definitely the way to go.
