I suggest easter eggs compo.
Rules: Make game or whatever, just include more easter eggs than actual features (probably stumblable-upon ones, as well as hidden, but not impossible ones)
Start: As soon as someone want to participate too
End: easter

What I think we all love most about Easter is children running around looking for Easter eggs. Its a collect them all type game but every egg you collect can be opened to unveil a item of real worth and value(well at least to a 9 year old)

Because of this I think the Easter competition should be about collecting.

Collecting has proven to be both a very popular and successful way to add replay value and length to games. 
You often collect to unlock secrets, special moves, bosses, story, and levels. Leveling up in RPGs involve collecting XP
As games like Katamari Damacy have proven there is still much to be done and explored in regards to the concept of collecting.
I think with a few guidelines added in it we could have a excellent competition!

So seriously?   Can we get a rough estimate when there is likely to be an announcement?

Got a few people here that are waiting for the next big comp.  They aren't doing the easter comp as they are waiting for the big one before they blow a couple of weekends coding like nuts

Also I might put the call out to the students at a local academy to see if they want to get into it :D

LudumDare is a fairly large indie competition and from what I've seen it produces some great games.
