You are a young woman on a quest to find her sister, that ran away from home... And into an monster infested cave of all places! Only thing you have to defend yourself is your trusty bow... And your mighty kicks Smiley

Petra is going to be a kind of shooter/platform hybrid with the emphasis on atmosphere, precise aiming and unforgiving difficulty level.

I am an artist who doesn't know squat about programming, so I had to use somebody else's platform engine to start the game off, so kudos for Tymon. I've been working on this thing for the last month or so and I've menaged to get the combat to a level where it is somewhat enjoyable.

Or maybe it is not I don't really know, you tell me. Here's the prototype:

http://www.mediafire.com/?jmeziyky2dj

KEY CONFIGURATION

moving left/right:   A/D
jumping:             RMB
doublejump:          RMB while in the air
shooting:            LMB
charged jump:        RMB while holding S
kicking:             E

+You can pick up arrows by walking over them or with the cursor
+You can shoot while in the air, but only 3 times

Let me know what you think about the combat.

Oh, and here's some early concepts for the lady:

Edit: Updated the game info with some key bindings I forgot :D

Awesome!

Thanks!

Quick question: should I post this prototype in the feedback section? I feel that it is a more suitable place actual game files.

I think as you're developing this section is fine, you can use Feedback once you have a good playable demo or first level maybe?

The arrow shooting feels really, really good in this, nice work! However I don't like the RMB jump at all. Moving it to the keyboard would be nicer IMO.

You are right, I'll wait untill I have something more substantial.

As for the RMB jumping, it is needed for charged jumps. When you aim the jump with mouse, but jump with keyboard it gets pretty confusing. For me anyway.

I am kind of sick of programming for a while, so this weekend I'll focus on graphics. Today, it's a new tileset, and some flaming arrows! Right now, aside from setting a nice mood, they do nothing.

Reminds me of Shadow Dancer...

I think it's definitely got legs. There was a bit too many baddies for me. I only really managed to get into a good rhythm for a few seconds or so before total meltdown.

Love the demonic glowing eyes...

The artwork is really looking great!  It's strange it's like Sci-Fi meets Fantasy.
