I'm moving to Cambridge in like two weeks. Let's meet up! Ludum Dare 17 is set for April the 23rd to the 25th, and I'd planned to set myself up in CB2 Bistro for the weekend to work on something for it. We should all do it. Who's up for it? This would be in addition to the big, proper jam being planned in Cambridge for May/June.Let's keep a list to get an idea of numbers: Probably taking part:Terry PerrinAshcroft bento_smile Hayden Scott-Baron Titch roBurky Nora Shishi

Oh damn you I was planning to go to a gig that Saturday night but this sounds WAY better. I'm in of course.
EDIT: BTW I mentioned this briefly at GDC but I'm putting together a simple site we can use for future UK jams, as somewhere just to upload our games in a similar manner to Glorious Trainwrecks. Site could also be a nice rallying point for more regular UK game jams.

I'd be up for this! Even if only as an excuse to work on some games... I got more done in Cambridge at the last jam than I have in the entire time since. Full time employment is draining. Also, you're emigrating Terry? there goes Ireland's non-existent indie community. I blame tax reform

Not sure it's a great idea money-wise, but this is very tempting. I got more done in Cambridge at the last jam than I have in the entire time since.
This is annoyingly true for me as well.

I'd like to come. I'll try see if I can't book some time off work.

Fantastic, this is already a better turnout than I'd expected! So, do we have to reserve the tables or anything like that? Or are we safe enough just showing up? (added a list to the first post)

(added a list to the first post) If there's not too many people, we should be safe turning up. :D I get up early for Ludum Dare anyway!

I was thinking that we would eat elsewhere! There are loads of places we can go! As for booking space, we should be okay if we show up early enough.

I booked flights for this on Sunday! They were ludicrously inexpensive. Unfortunately I only then noticed my passport is expiring in two weeks; apparently there's a backlog of forty thousand Irish passports due to be issued, and the passport office is currently on some kind of semi-strike. I'm going to apply for an emergency passport tomorrow, but I think "Possibly taking part" fits my situation better now.

Oh dear It's ridiculous that you need a passport to fly anywhere in the EU; I dunno when that changed but it's a total pain.

What tipped you off? Yeah the EU are cool with any kind of photo ID; it's Ryanair that demand a passport I was looking at getting the ferry to Hollyhead and a train to London... it'd be about €80 and take 8 hours each way though. I'll hold off on seriously considering that until I know if I've left it too late to get a passport. Edit: actually, for that price I could fly with Aer Lingus straight into Heathrow. backup plan upgraded!
