A greek tragedy (will not be the final title)

I'm making a little game set in ancient greece that is kind of an experiment with storytelling, and a bit of side scrolling brutal combat. Hopefully it'll end up as a touching little tale.

Right now I reckon it looks nice, and plays nice. So here's some screenies of various chapters of the game.







And a video on Youtube of some bloody warfare;





Constantly improving it, but off to China next week for a month...

Oh, and the style was inspired by the black on yellow of greek pottery, but has evolved a bit.

It does look nice, looking forward to a release! Also it seems oddly appropriate that the video looks smashing in textP.  Grin

I like the style, and the animations look quite smooth. The only thing I can think of is that the gameplay looks like it might get a little repetitive, judging from that video.

Is the battling the only part of the game? Because it doesn't look too entertaining.

I do like the classic silhouette look you went for though, very nice.

To echo other posters, nice look. I'm not digging the aliased Times New Roman as a font, though. I hope you can find something more Greek-looking. And anti-alias it.

You game looks good, but it could use something more dynamics ! But the video is from the alpha right?

Thanks for all the feedback. Consensus seems to be; 'nice style, but gameplay looks a bit boring/crap'.

I'll look to improve it when I get back from China (leaving tomorrow for a month). In the mean time I'll dream up some ways to make it better.
