So, after many months of absence, I've decided to actually get to work on something. And oh look, it's based off the very first thing I ever made! I'm actually getting some help this time around with artwork, so it should hopefully end up for the better.

Most of the work so far has been on the player. But there is a bit of boss graphics work.

For example,

Isn't it cute?

Our first boss!

The game is still in a very early stage of development, so nothing in the way of Demos just yet. Sorry.

Not too much happening just yet.

Looks a lot like it, yes. It's more like a parody of the standard RPG slime enemy, though.

And so, as day ~5 comes to a close...
We have...

A prototype titlescreen.

Also new are the basic engine for boss 2, a ton of new sprite work, Continued work on basic systems, etc.

Next up:
Making Boss 2
Working on Hub
Save System. (Literally just the save point right now. Rest is done.)

Boss 2 will hopefully be awesome.  Hub should be ready for pic taking soon enough. Might release a demo after 2 or 3 bosses are complete.

You might want to rename it, seeing as http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=7326.0

That's just a placeholder. A name hasn't actually been decided on.

Besides, I'm more than familiar with that game. Hell, I beta tested it.   Wink

Programmed a couple of boss 2 attacks today. For example...

MISSILES.

Other than that, programmed a bit more in the way of base systems. Progress is going smoothly. Actual Backgrounds should be on the way.

I see you toned the background down a bit, which was a good decision, but it's still too bright in my opinion.
The platforms are a bit hard to see because of it, making the overall level look messy. You could try toning the platforms' yellow down a bit too though, and possibly add outlines to the platforms. Black 2px should do wonders, I'd say.
If you don't want to make the level feel any darker by toning the background down, you could always desaturate it.

Yellow horizontal platforms and yellow horizontal stripes can get a bit confusing.
1px would probably be plenty, but change those lines (or the platforms) and you won't need anything.

So did I. I actually thought that's what this thread was about.
Anyway looks pretty cool, agreed with mokesmoe and atomictroop. Also consider the scope of the playing field. The character and boss look relatively small compared to the arena. I think if you zoomed in more and focused more on the character, it would make the bosses look larger and more menacing. Just my opinion, you may want to keep it the way you have it for your own reasons.

Woah. Tons of comments from nowhere. o.0

Anyway, The yellow in the background has been toned down considerably since I posted that image.

As for Arena size, it's mainly leaving myself open for larger bosses (and attacks).

Anyway, glad to see some actual comments, finally.  Cheesy
