games kept coming in about 20 minutes after the timer officially ended.

PoV himself said that shit happens and they are pretty lenient about it.

Okei here is my game:

Click for the LD game page

This is a game designed to immerse you in an alien ecosystem, or at least a small part of it. It's winnable but I think too obscure, I'm not sure that anyone has actually beaten it yet.

PsySal, your link does not take me to your game. But this one does.

I already played it, and I remember being pretty baffled for a couple minutes, and then I randomly chose to go east and some sharks/worms were biting my blobs but I ignored them because they didn't seem to be impeding my progress. Eventually I reached a pillar and I clicked on the pillar and my blobs a few times and stuff happened and then it took me back to the title screen.

Man, this game is really hard to describe.  WTF

Link fixed, thanku! And yeap, that's about it =) The world is randomly generated, so it can be interesting to play a few times, though. I might make a few small changes to help elucidate a bit, and there were some balancing issues with the worms. There are male and female blobs, and close to the end I beefed up the females' defence; however it sort of made the passage a moot point. I also shortened the length of the game overall which affected more than I had planned on (fewer islands, whales, etc.) and lastly, I changed the body generation code to use fewer blobs for more interesting shapes, but that caused the juveniles to be invisible (you can sometimes see juveniles on your sensor but you will never actually see them on-screen.)

All in all, oops! =) But the game itself still usually works at conveying what I wanted to convey, which isn't far from WTF. =)

10 more minutes and I would have had something finished  Facepalm

That is remarkably similar to my entry, I had those extra 10 minutes so I managed to get a whole 15 second level done! Imagine if we both had another hour!

Really glad i'm starting to get into this whole scene, everyone is so nice and talking to people equally as passionate about this stuff is nice.

Indeed, the error seems to be a strange one. I suggest you check if ob_player has a sprite assigned to it at all times? Because if it doesn't, then you are definitely going to get this error (The object needs to have a sprite index (or a mask) if you want to check for x and y coordinates, even when you are using draw events). I actually believe this is the only reason you may get this error.

I made a game for Ludum Dare as well, called Island Rescue.

It's basically tetris but you have to try to keep your little villager guy alive. It's been getting some decent response in the voting comments (Here's a link to the entry page)

Anyways, here's a screenshot and a link to the project page on my website

Nice. I got tied for 33rd. I think all of the top 80 or so are pretty credible games. This was a good and competitive LD and I didn't mind the theme at all Smiley

Xerus,

Congratulations!!!

This was my first LD, too and I'm kind of happy with the results: 2nd place in the Audio category Smiley and 54th in the overall one Sad

Best regards
