Yeah I think I prefer the middle one too! It looks REALLY great, even though it looks a little bit like the minor was stretched too much if you see what I mean, but that is just nitpick!
And I think it is a joystick in his hands by the way.

the middle one is great but a bit too hard to read, maybe with some fix so we can still read the text?

i think also that the middle one is the best but as neoshaman said it needs a little bit of work in order to impove the readability. Smiley

On the prospector character, I think the pick axe should contrast with his beard more. I didn't even realize they were separate until I saw the pick axe handle.

I think the top logo works best. I don't really think the letters need that gold nugget pattern in them. Also, not to say the little prospector dude isn't cool, but a more simplified, vector art version of him might make for a more versatile and readable logo.

I like the top one the most..
but the middle one could be better if the colors of the pattern are more subtle..

also the miners pick/beard is a bit hard to recognize..
maybe a bit different colors could do the trick

well i finally decided to use a slightly modified version of the first one...
it works best with the overall site design of pixel prospector, offers good readability and looks nice and clean.  Smiley

thanks again for the input guys!   Gentleman

well with the launch only 1 week away i thought i present the final version of the logo:

now i have another question:
how should i alter the logo for the INDEV section?

  • maybe INDEV written vertically on the right side?
  • what about the "promising free indie games" subheadline?

any ideas?

Could be sharper, more tightly rendered, maybe some color adjustments. I thought the same thing, actually.

^ what he said.

It does not look like a final product to me, and this is a logo so one would expect a high degree of polish, you can can see the layers indicating the glow of the light and for that mater the circular strokes taken to form the glow of the light.
