Mmm... attract screen

Game is really nearly done. Should be reading in ~18 hours. Also this isn't quite what the attract screen looks like, but it's impossible to capture the flickering effect in a static image. This is probably what it'd look like if you were squinting. And stoned. And really only just remembering what it looked like. But, like, you totally remember it. You remember it man. You, like, remember.

Despite the fact I'm an atheist, I think you are a god.

!!!  I totally love this.  Really nice work, Farbs!

It's fun, the pace is great, and the graphics/music/sound presentation is fantastic.

It's amazingly awesome.

As I already said somewhere, if Kotaku finds out about this, Farbs may well become an internet hero :p

4120 was my High Score

Great game, really love the randomness of it all. Leads to some interesting situations.

Holy Mario, this is better than I ever could have imagined. The wonderful moment of disorientation when the game flicks from one control method to another. The anguish at attempting to stomp on someone's head after a Mario-Link transformation. The irrational hatred I now have for Pang balls.

There a couple of issues, of course. Being the space invaders ship is nearly always a curse - but then being inline with a troop of advancing Goombas, urging the change to come faster is a pretty unique type of gaming despair. And I had been worried there was going to be this kind of problem throughout. Congratulations for getting so many of the concepts to actually mesh efficiently. Lastly, I do kinda wish it had a fullscreen mode, or at least 2x (or maybe it does and I'm being a manbaby?)

Anyway, why am I typing? I have deliciously mangled games to play.

man, this is fantastic!  The feel of the game was pretty much perfect.  Oddly though, sometimes the game itself glitched.  That sounds odd given that it is designed to act "glitchy", but sometimes the text gets garbled and the colours go weird.  I'll post a screeny later.

Glad you changed the ending!

Although it breaks a rule, this game is awesome, so screw that rule!

Woo! I'm really glad you're all enjoying it. Grin Grin Grin

If you want to toggle windowed/fullscreen try hitting Alt-Enter. It uses a pretty freaky screen resolution (256x224), so your results may vary.

We have Haowan to thank for the Space Invader Ship of Despair. He convinced me to keep it in after an early playtest. I think he was totally right though - the cool moment outweighs the punishing game design.

It's only a small file, a few mb.

I love the Space Invaders ship, a compete change of pace.
