Since I am jobless and moneyless:

1. I can't afford a better music program
2. I can't afford anything for that matter
3. I'd like to start making music for a profit

I mainly use PXTone to write my music.

Would there be any legal issues in using this program for a profit since it is free? I have tried contacting Pixel, but I can't find a way to.

While Pxtone has a distinctive sound, I don't think anyone could ever prove you used it. Furthermore, I don't think Pixel is the kind of guy to send out cease and desists, and if there are no limitations expressed in the program documentation I'm pretty sure that means he wouldn't care.

I'm no expert in lawyerese, but if there are no limitations for using his program and you compose the actual music yourself, you shouldn't need to worry at all?

Yeah, generally the case is that unless it explicitly states that you can't you it for profit, then you're fine to use it. I use the program as well and there are a few manual files in the manual_ptc folder. It's in japanese though so I can't tell what it says. There's a chance there could be something in there about it...
