There are some great looking famicase covers in that collection, but without knowing Japanese it's hard to get the full picture! Are there any Japanese speakers on TIGSource who can help translate a few?

I'm really curious about this one, for a start:

I think that not knowing what the title means and going simply by the image is even more interesting for the games that can be made.

Google Translate says...

Quote
"Adults are not you know her Babubabu - -"
smallest (DIGDYNAMICS ยท CONSUMERS) / pharmacy wrapper Official Site

Now, finally break away from the birth canal, has been in place somehow dazzling. ... That is my mother? Well, if I was (A be born. B pointing to the heavens and the Rising. C will want to go somewhere.) ... Himself to a choice as any that we communicate in the language adults has not yet understood. Papurichi! This game is not parenting. Looking for Action is Babubabu. Ability to learn the baby's body still undeveloped, underdeveloped usability. The final goal is the larger of the sand next to the town park, is to become the undisputed Babubabu her. Papurichi!

Well....okay!  Shrug

I suppose I can see that side of it too. Not knowing exactly what the game is intended to be about certainly makes things interesting in some cases...

I see it as a dual farming sim; you take care of the chickens and regular farm animals and sell them, while scuba guy is another part of the game, where you have an underwater farm you use for food for the farm animals, and you have to hunt them in a side scroller.

Of course! Why didn't I see that...?

I got a friend to have a look at that one at the top Terry:

Babubabu-chan ~grownups don't understand me~

She said this about the description:

'It's kinda hard to explain, cause it doesn't say  much. But that it's not a game about raising kids, it's an "action adventure" game from the POV of babubabu, who can't speak yet so can't make himself understood to adults And it says at the end you can play babubabu in the sandpit of a big park'

If anybody wants to translate the text that goes along with the cartridge which I'm using (tales of an unspoken world), I'd be very glad: http://famicase.com/chronicle/#/2005/shimizu/ (for lack of a link to a 2005 page, if there even is one)

I think the text relating to the game is on the topright of the screen when zoomed in on the case. (aka, what it does after they all load)

babubabu chan
otona ha wakattekurenai

"wakattekurenai" means more like "don't give understanding."  So the subtitle translation is more like "Adults don't understand me."

Babble Babble Kid is a good translation.

陀戯怨 = da gi on = steep frolic grudge
"Dagion"
Ura Mitsuharu/Game Music Creator
Year 199X, Mankind received a devastating blow from the sudden appearance of the atrocious life-form "N-ZIA".  Against this absolute crisis, genius archeologist, professor Riceball operates the super ancient weapon "DAGION", which he excavated from an ancient tomb, to do battle to risk fate!  Ready...DAGION!  (Game magazine review: 2 stars) "The player's bullets are hard to see, but one of the boss's attacks is refreshing, the jump commands are also very novel.  But regarding the player character, BGM, and system - as was with 'Riceball's Naughty Ninja Adventure' it's deplorable."

Many thanks, IngisKahn!

I'm liking "steep frolic grudge", but I'm not sure how it will relate to my game.

Google Translate says that this one

is "True Taco Hunt".

Is that indeed the case?

"Tako" is Japanese for octopus (as well as for "taco"), so given the art it's more likely "Real Octopus Hunt."

Looks like it's a play on words between Tetris and their CAD software which is called Mai CAD.  Also, the game was apparently created by scientists in the Soviet Union to teach room layout practices.
