Pix in Love


Information
Pix in Love will be a sidescrolling beat 'em up, taking inspiration from games such as Guardian Heroes, Little Fighter, River City Ransom and Castle Crashers.
When i first saw the case i imagined the dudes were called Pix and Love, but after a bit of thought today i decided that it could also mean "Pix in Love".

Story

Pix lives a happy life, he has a girlfriend, and he lives with her. He is happy.
This all changes one day when the evil mastermind Dr Futa appears at the door.
"I have come for the lady" says the doctor.
"You'll have to go through me first!" shouts Pix.
"Oh give it a break kid, i don't have time for this." Dr Futa says as he draws his gun.
*BANG*
"Ahh! My leg!" Pix screams.
"Told you i don't have all day." replies Dr Futa, as he lifts Pix's girlfriend into the air. "Later bro!".

A week later, after Pix leaves the hospital, he vows to take revenge on Dr Futa and rescue his girlfriend.
He trains hard for weeks and weeks, beating endless amounts of wildlife until one day, he hears a knock at the door. Pix rushes to the door as fast as his legs will carry his oversized head. He flings it open to see quite possibly the gayest looking man he has ever seen. "Pix..." says the man in his womanly voice.
"Who are you?" says Pix. This man seems familiar somehow.
"It's me... You probably don't recognise me anymore... I'm hideous!!" and with this, the man breaks into tears. "Oh Pix!" he says as the tears continue to stream. "It's me! Your girlfriend!"
"Wha... I don't even..." says Pix, dumbfounded.
"Dr Futa is trying to create a potion that will modify a woman for his own amusement! I was just another failure!" Pix's arm is getting rather wet at this point.
"That's it. I have had enough of this guy. First he tries growing a fish in a goat's eye, then when that doesn't work out, he changes his name to reflect his latest experiment!"
"I'll put a stop to this. Once and for all... And while were at it maybe we can get you changed back into a woman."
"Yay! I love you Pix!" squeaks Pix's manfriend as he closes in for a kiss.
"Any closer and i'll punch you."

This is where we join Pix on his epic adventure to save his girlfriend. Will he take down Dr Futa and save the day (and possibly more women)?

How to play
The game will play much like the games i mentioned before, Arrows to move and some combination of letter keys to attack/jump etc.
Also, everyones favourite feature will be implemented: Picking up dead bodies and throwing them at people. A game just isn't a game without corpse flinging.

Controls:
Arrows to move.
Double tap to sprint.
D to punch.

List of known issues:
- There is no sprint animation.
- "Punchbag" flies too far when hit.
- Punchbag also faces the wrong way when hit.

Also, there is a little combo meter in there, just to keep you entertained for a while.

Actually, if you just change the title a bit (and not use that specific logo), you should be good to go.

What about the fact the art is based on Double Dragon? Or does that not really matter?

It doesn't matter. Double Dragon was generic enough to begin with. And that art reminds me more of River City Ransom anyway.

As long as you don't use the same logo as that commercial magazine you're good, though I doubt we'd get in trouble for that either way. So don't worry too much about it.

Actually, no, you can't edit the original image. You should just avoid using that logo in your game itself.

I'll just not use their logo, i guess one good thing about editing the cart is that i have a logo now.

I have changed the title from "Pix'n Love" to "Pix in Love". It makes me feel better about this and also it fits better with the story.

Still here guys! Haha.
Not done much over the past few days, but i thought i would give you a little update.
Some new mechanics info and a screenshot! GASP.

Confirmed a few new features with myself.
The game will feature a simple yet immersive combat system. As an example, you will be able to punch someone up into the air, then jump up and punch them diagonally down at an approaching enemy (this will damage the enemy).
Also, here is a screenshot of pre-alpha with a placeholder background:
