A bit rushed to say the least, have to go and drink beer.. http://www.grahamsgames.com/game/parachutepete/webplayer.htmlThis is my first entry into the comp. I'm always writing games and not finishing them, so hopefully the deadline should be an incentive to get it completed. I'll be using unity and am thinking about some sort of 3rd person 3d view where the aim is to land on the target, and not die. I guess you'll start off in the plane, decide when to jump, decide when to pull the ripchord, then steer left and right avoiding:- birds, planes, bullets, bombs. I'm thinking I'll be able to get a nice effect with clouds and opacity. Not sure about the backstory, ie why is pete jumping out of a plane and where is he? I think I'll just keep it to one mission as I've only got a couple of weeks to get it done... Can anyone explain why the image says 2 games - die don't die?! Could I/Should I incorporate this? Cheers.

I was hoping someone would do this! Looking forward to playing it.
I think by "Die.Don't Die" it means you can either die, or not die "and that's about it".

Funny game. The timing is just right, and the sound is the best part (as you noted). When I try to play the cursor scrolls off the game field and to the edge of my monitor. This has an effect on my looking, because when my cursor is on the right edge of the monitor I can't turn right any further. You probably don't have this problem in the EXE version. All you need to do to fix this is set Screen.lockCursor to true. http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/ScriptReference/Screen-lockCursor.html

Thanks guys..
I've updated the pages and game as to your recommendations. I really ran out of time doing this and basically made half of the game on saturday morning. Hopefully I've learned a lesson there the hard way. I was so desperate to finish this (I never normally never finish anything), that I missed half of the beer festival. Having said that I am pretty drunk now ;0)
I really enjoyed the comp, it's great to have feedback and to actually finish something.
As regards the sound being the best bit, it's weird when you do something like this, you've not really any idea or much control as to how it turns out. It's funny that the sound is the best, it just kind of happened that way. Though I guess it doesn't say much for the game!!!
Cheers.

I'm compiling the .torrent for this file, and I notice that your EXE is missing the data file and is unplayable. As such I'll be excluding the EXE from the Windows Batch for the torrent, but don't worry since I'll still be directing players to your web version which appears to be fine. You may want to fix that though.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but all I can do is look around. I can't jump or control my movement and eventually I fall into the ocean.

B£:@er! I am on holiday at the moment. I shall fix these problems when I return on Sunday. As regards th controls, try pressing caps lock. It may be I'm looking for z and not Z, or hit refresh f5 in the browser so that the game loads again..good luck!

The controls don't work. neither j nor J jump me from the plane, so I can't direct my fall. And why is the plane free-falling anyway? And yes, like belbeeno mentioned, your download link is missing the data folder. As such I'll remove it from the webpage until you fix it. When you do please PM me with the new link.

Ok,
I've fixed the controllers (again). It seemed to always work for me, but I probably didn't do enough testing on different machines...
Hope it's working for you this time...

Haha! This is hilarious. I found it pretty easy, and had to fail on purpose in the end to get the bad ending. I suppose the downside is that it's very short, with no replay value after you have seen both endings, but I enjoyed it non the less. Good work. "Roger wilko, roger wilko. This is Pete, I'm on the island. Repeat, I'm on the island."

I thought the controls were messed up on purpose so the player had no choice but to fall in the water.

I was able to hit the island on my third try. It was probably luck though.

The trick is to not aim directly towards the island. Circle around the island getting close with each revolution, like a spiral, then at the last minute turn sharply towards the island for a perfect landing every time.

Thanks for persevering.
I did think that people might think that "not being able to get out of the plane" was maybe some kind of joke.
I downloaded one of the entries, which was "a windows game", that just rebooted my machine on startup, I wasn't sure if that was part of the joke or not.
Anyway, my own fault for not leaving enough time for testing.
"Roger wilko, roger wilko. This is Pete, I'm on the island. Repeat, I'm on the island."
That's me putting on a serious voice! In hindsight I could've done the screams as well.
I didn't want to make the game too difficult as I figured that people would only play it a few times anyway.
I had some wind early on ,but I took that out as it was making it too difficult.
Anyway I'm pleased that people have bothered to play to it's conclusion.
