BTW I won't be posting much until I have things well fleshed out. Gameplay is practically complete now... Expect a rythm game.

Little modelling work I've been doing in the morning, still untextured and very bare. This should be part of the background. Stay tuned for more.

Three Dee in a TIGS compo! I guess it's ok as long as it has an awesome title! What's that program you're using there? Did you make it?

Bryce 3D, great for renders and simple modelling. I think there are a couple of other 3d entries.
I've made a lot of progress since last time, I'll try to post more pix, when I have the time. The game looks great now, I'm starting with the characters.
I have actually done some serious amount of research about banjos , I'll try to have a rather faithful rendition of a real banjo in-game. And if I have the time, a music box so that you can have a banjo play your favorite melodies.

Well there was a free version of version 5 available on the internets a couple of years ago, but I don't know if it's still available (I doubt it but it might be worth searching). As for my version, I had to register a serial number online with my real name, so it wouldn't be a very god idea to distribute it

All right, i finished something in a playable state. Unfortunately it doesn't look as cool as I envisioned it. Due to time constraints I had to package only one enemy and one environment. But the main problem is that the gameplay is not as fun as it should be. The playing area is a bit too small to be really fun. Oh well, at least it will serve me as a test for the framework i have been develloping in the last two years. Once the contest is over, I'll release a definitive enhanced version just for practice. Feedback appreciated but there are probably a couple of bugs hidden there and I won't be able to fix them before the deadline.
DOWNLOAD IN FIRST POST.

I'm not on Windows at the moment, but if it's anything like the banjo-duel in Monkey Island III (or Deliverance) it should be excellent.

It is supposed to be a banjo duel yes, but it surely lacks the humor of monkey island or the virtuosity of deliverance. At least in this version. But yes, these were inspirations for me.

It's pretty interesting. I like the presentation, though the font used in the menus don't fit well with the theme.
But banjo battle with a pirate is a pretty awesome concept.
I found that the gameplay evolved too slowly. I felt like I was repeating myself at least 4 times before I got to use different notes.
Overall, fun for a few minutes.
