I'm not sure if this is a bug or feature, but holding down 'D' just let me fly around everywhere, in the direction of the arms.

All the mentions of Sexy Hiking made me go find that game and play it to see what it was like.
I hate you guys for inflicting that on me.
Anyways this is the start of a promising game. I see lots of intriguing gameplay ideas that can stem from this mechanic. Keep it up.

Sweet :D
I love the idea and I look forward to seeing how it develops! There were a couple of things things I think need to be changed. In the old version, when I picked up the bracers the message wouldn't go away unless I pressed left or right, which was a bit weird. A mouse click would be better. Also, if I pressed R when that message was up the message would stay there covering the platforms. In the new version, I pick up the bracers and then can't do anything. I don't know how to make the screen go away.
I really love the game mechanic - it's really fun, original and odd. Looking forward to seeing it develop :D

This is coming along nicely. I like the whole Aztec theme, it is random enough to be funny but still cool and cohesive in its own right.

If you dunk your head in the save water and quickly take it back out again (maybe within 1 or 2 frames) the screen stays blue. Nice work, the name attracted my attention because I am also making a game where you have no legs .

Cool gameplay concept, easy to pick up, pretty fun.
Graphics need work, but the color scheme is nice.
Is that the powerup sound from Metroid? Nice.

Ah this game is pretty fun (though a tad excruciating : P ) . I quite got into the first tech demo, but, and this may just be me playing it with a touch-pad, but I can't seem to get up the second wall in the final version : ( (the one tilting slightly inwards).

After a brief absence... http://www.nagnazul.com/YHNL%20v0.12.swfNew features: -The map system (it's a powerup) -Hitting R will reload your last save I think I've cleared most of the programming hurdles at this point - what's left is building the world - level design, additionnal graphics - and adding in the various powerups: health boosts, climbing boosts, picking up objects, etc. Still in need of an artist/sound/music guy! If you can do one of those, talk to me! nagnazul at gmail dot com!

Also, this game could be really interesting if you think carefully about a art style and good character design - try not to rely on funny random images on the final thing, as i think this could be quite popular.
Yeah. As much as I agree, there's nothing I can do about that. The competition ends in 12 days, I'm working on this solo and I'm not an artist. So even though I agree with what you said (The game would be better if it looked better), I have no artist to help me and thus google image search is my source for graphics. There's still time to improve the visuals, but I'd need an artist for that. If you want to help, drop me a line...

New features: -Fixed slip-sliding, should not affect gameplay (TELL ME IF IT DOES) -Added 3 new powerups (okay, one powerup that appears three times) http://www.nagnazul.com/YHNL%20v0.13.swfDon't forget that you can press V to light up dark areas! --- Also, if I don't get a musician to work for me soon, I will fill the game with miku hatsune music. this song will feature prominently. An artist would be a great help as well.

Thanks, yes, this one http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3310460 and I made a custom level editor that allows me to draw levels in flash and then export them as .swf to be loaded and built as box2D elements.

I like. The mechanic is quite interesting and I do love the potential this game has! One thing I do want to note is that the controls (just the mouse, not holding D) feel very stiff at the moment, and RSI/CTS inducing after a while. Also, climbing up the walls feels a bit counter intuitive imho. But it's fun none the less!

Interesting! I disagree, I found climbing to work exactly like I thought it would and I managed it on the the first try.
One thing, if you lie still in the water and float to the surface it gets kind of hard to move forward. Perhaps some forward motion could be added, by swingin the arms?

This seems interesting. After getting the three plumes, I enjoyed flinging myself around, but it seemed a little difficult to aim well. Not that there's anything to aim at yet, anyway.
Instead of clicking and holding to stick, perhaps the inverse of having your first always grab and holding a key to not grab would work? But then you'd have to worry about not touching things by accident.

The game is nearing completion - I need some volunteers to test specific things for me. If you're interested, send me a PM.

Game's finished, Here it is: http://www.nagnazul.com/YHNL%20v1.1.swfGive it a moment or two to load, it's a 12 MB file. If you run into any bugs or problems, tell me. You can turn sound off by hitting S in game. Have fun!

It's pretty cool Martin! You found a really cool game mechanic, ran with it and exploited it really well.

This is really one neat game, just one suggestion, you should make a way to skip the popup for the item pickups, right now it gets a bit frustrating to wait for it to be over, even though it's just a few seconds more or less.
