I was hanging out in a bar with Derek in 2009 or something, and Diablo Cody won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. I let it be known that I had a low opinion of the movie and especially its dialogue. Next thing I knew, Derek had christened me with a "Loves Juno"" flair, and a picture of the then Eileen Page.   |

oh no, that makes you one of the indie illuminati, I can no longer be friends.  I think his new one, as Eliot, The Umbrella Academy, is more interesting, though it follows a lot of the rules of a soap opera. The first season was a bit too much "everyone unpack your baggage" for me to enjoy. |

Us Delaware boys are a bit classier than New Jersy people, so that will give you a frame of reference. I may check that one out. Up in the Air was good ... imo. His style is not to make films that really speak to me personally, but they are clearly good examples of film making which is enjoyable even if I'm not the target audience.

All I know about Delaware is it's the corporate headquarters of many of America's largest companies, largely for corporate tax and legal reasons? That may be slowly changing. Oh! It's also Biden's home state. I discovered a really cool thing he did when he was Vice President. I believe he is the only US politician to quote from Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow at a political rally. Even if he was only doing it to appeal to elite tastes, it's still pretty dang cool. Got to give the man some respect for that.  |

I've met Joe, he is a genuinely nice guy who wants to do good. And that quote is pure gold, back when he could remember a quote.
Sadly, the DE court system is not what it once was (the main reason to incorporate there.) Still, I would want to face the music under DE law as opposed to anywhere else.
