Major AnnouncementThis is a call to arms to anyone out there that's willing to record playthroughs of ALL AGBIC games and post them on Youtube or a similar tube website. They don't have to be full playthroughs, and in fact 5 minutes or so of each game (for those games that last that long or more), is more than good enough. There's no big reason to do this. I just thought it would be awesome to have videos of AGBIC all in one package. If it doesn't happen, no biggie. Idea by nitram_cero (2bam): Have each game's video time last something like 9-10 seconds, put them all together in a single "All AGBIC games in 10 minutes" video. I actually like this idea a lot right now. Let me know if anyone is willing, or is already working on that. Other Announcements:- I've decided that, alongside the main "Best Game" voting, I will organize several 3-day votings for sub-themes, such as "Best game using cart X", "Best visuals", "Best audio", and so on. I welcome suggestions for themes!
- The competition is officially extended by one week thanks to overwhelming voting in favor of it. The new competition deadline is now August 7th, on a Saturday.
- I've noticed some finished entries being hosted in file hosting services that I can't really call anything other than shittastic.
For the betterment of the compo, I'm encouraging entrants to NOT host your files on file sharing services that have:
- Captchas
- Mandatory waiting time
- Excessive number of ads, especially pop-ups and pop-unders
- Assorted bullshit
Suggestions:
- Dropbox, my personal favorite, super-simple to use, free, allow you to restore old versions of your files, and other nifty things.
- Box.net
- Mediafire, a bit stuffed of annoying ads but no waiting or silly captchas
- Google Sites, I was recommended this one though I'm not sure how it works, personally
I encourage entrants that uploaded their games to shitty services to use a better one and update the link on the finished entries thread. - Aaaaand we're done! 67 entries, holy balls.
You guys have any idea how crazy it'll be to sort all this madness out?
Still, I wouldn't have it any other way.
As before, you're still allowed to make small adjustments and bug fixes to your games, but LET ME KNOW THROUGH PM if your download link changes as a result (and please try not to change it too much if you can).
Thanks a lot for everybody that joined and helped make this a huge success.

18- No prizes*, other than the adoration of your peers and a piece of my approval**, worth more than its weight in gold in at least 13 states!*** *Prizes open to interpretation, do not accept any "prizes" from any TIGsource member. **Melly's "Piece of approval" is non-refundable. ***States limited to only emotional and psychological states of mind.

What about those medals you are handing out though (for instance, to incepare)? Is that not 'technically' a prize, or is that the 'piece of your approval'?

Most interesting use of cartridge perhaps? As in finding the most inventive way to build a game based on a cartridge. I feel like I'm not very good at explaining myself right now but I hope you understand.

I believe I do understand what you mean, but it may be a little too generic and difficult to judge on. Some people may think that abstracting the cart is better than following it and its description closely, and vice-versa.

Most authentic retro experience?
Some people are really going gusto for Atari and NES specs etc.

I hate to be pedantic and I know we generally play fast and loose with these things anyway, but my OCD is winning out so I have to ask: Is the deadline end of day Saturday or whenever you finish up Friday night/Saturday morning?

Everybody has a different time around here so I haven't the slightest goddamn idea. Lets just say it's a fuzzy deadline, especially since I'll have to set up everything else related to it, like the webpage and polls.

Hey Melly, I've got a suggestion for you. So far there's been so many great games released that it seems a shame to only vote for one. Can you make the voting poll checkboxes instead of radio buttons? That way the game with the most votes would still win, but everyone else gets a little more recognition too. Of course, if you're going to bar the entrants from voting or something then this is a moot point for me, but hey :V

I just watched the new bytejacker.com episode 100. They mentioned this competition and featured MADRIS in their Free Indie Rapid Fire! It sounds like they plan on covereing some more AGBIC games next week too.
