Dolphin Island 2 for NES

Description
An all-new, completely authentic NES game with 100% original graphics, music, and assembly code by abadidea. This unique game uses the rare Family Keyboard as its input rather than the traditional eight-button controller, allowing you the full 72-button experience. Please note that only FCEU and FCEUX-SP should be used to emulate this game as they have full support of the Family Keyboard. Nestopia currently rejects it as an invalid ROM for some reason but it won't work in that emu anyway. The NPC Warrior Princess Soranel needs your help to escape from her simulation game. Use your programming and system administration skills to alight from the hypervisor!

Current status: Keyboard driver hooked up! You can now scribble random letters all over the console.

This is my first post on this forum, and I only found out about the contest last night, two weeks in Smiley Hi guys Smiley

Recommended Emulator

How to play
Use FCEU or FCEUXD-SP, not plain FCEUX. The latter does not disable keyboard shortcuts.

fceu -fcexp fkb dolphinisland.nes

or use Input menu options as appropriate. Press Scroll Lock during emulation to enable the keyboard. If your real keyboard doesn't have Scroll Lock, go to Acessories→Accessibility under the Start menu and open up the on-screen keyboard, which has a 'slk' button.

Updated with works-out-of-the-box build of FCEU emulator for Windows. Updated ROM with working keyboard driver. Next step: console input loop.  Panda

Still don't know why Nestopia rejects it as an invalid ROM. I'm guessing it doesn't like the all-empty PRG banks.

Edit: a-yup, loads in Nestopia now, but I'm not aware of any plausible way to actually play the game past the first screen in it

Also, you should be aware that there WAS a Dolphin Island 1. Tongue The cart is in there somewhere, you could reference it as back-story (which you'd have to make up).
