South-west UK has Explay and the Bristol Anti-Social. Explay meets on the first Thursday of each month on the third floor of the Roundabout Pub in Plymouth from 19:00 till they kick us out. http://goo.gl/maps/WXthv <--- The venue Also, once a year they have a big 2 day expo. 2011 took place in the National Marine Aquarium Plymouth, 2012 was in the Assembly Halls, Bath. The meeting are well attended with between 15 to 30+ developers, students and hobbyists in attendance. We showcase our games for feedback, play board games and often have guest speakers. The Explay Expos have been attended by Dr Richard Wilson, Ian Livingstone and Dr Joe Twist. I highly recommend the events and monthly meet up for networking and for a great time with other developers! Expaly also runs a company Bootcamp to help new Indie companies get started with mentoring from industry vets for free!! Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/explay/ Website - http://www.explay.co.uk/ Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/user/ExtendedPlay2011?feature=watch The Bristol Anti-Social The meet takes place on the last Thursday of every month at the Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol. I haven't been able to attend this event yet so sadly I can't give you too much insight into it. http://goo.gl/maps/MvY7y <--- The venue The people behind it are really nice and from the events I have been to in Bristol they're a lovely bunch! Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/bristolgamejam/ I hope this is useful!!!

New Zealand has a very active, supportive and currently successful indie scene with Meetups galore. Auckland Game Developer Meetups: www.meetup.com/playmakerHamilton Game Developers: http://www.facebook.com/groups/243930925710893/Wellington Game Developers: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!forum/wellington-game-dev Dunedin Game Developers: http://www.facebook.com/gamedevdunedinWe also have our own indie community at www.playmaker.org.nz. The Auckland Meetups are regular each month and have 80 attendees on average. FYI, some indie games of note made by New Zealanders include The Blockheads, Voxatron, Vesper.5 (IGF Nuovo Finalist), Cletus Clay (IGF Art Finalist), Shatter, Path of Exile, Bloons, Day Z plus the Blitz Basic and Monkey Coder tools. Plus lots of independently-published successful iPhone developers. If you're in New Zealand (or want to move here!) get in touch.

North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, now has a dedicated game jam/hackathon meet-up group! Whether you're from Cologne, Dusseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Dortmund-- join up and get jamming with us. We're planning for regular(ish) events, so if you're keen to keep those game juices flowing, explore ideas you wouldn't otherwise get to explore and just chill with some awesome, like-minded people, check us out! http://www.facebook.com/groups/332909186831878/

I'm not sure where to post this. I'm looking for a city that has lots of game jams? I'm thinking of moving to a new city, and I want to move to a place with a social indie game scene.

Speaking of unlikely, does anyone know of any meetings in Ireland? Specifically in northern Ireland, probably in/around Belfast. If no such thing exists, I'd love to start some sort of regular gathering, if the interest's there...

I would be so honored if there was a gathering in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Same I live 1 city up. (Clearwater) I'm starting to plant the seed with con goers and throwers about the feasibility of having a indie / general games event in Florida.

There are monthly game dev meetings in Omaha, Nebraska. Anyone who is interested in any aspect of game dev is welcome. People show off their work, we socialize, watch GDC videos, we sometimes have special skype guests from the industry (last guest was Richard Lemarchand who use to work at Naughty Dog). http://omahagamedev.com/
