Hi!
I´m starting a devlog for this game I´ve been working on for a little while. Its my first more serious attempt actually.
It´s a citybuilder-ish cross with a mouse controlled shmup.

You build buildings and cannons on a large spacecraft/station thing.
You also control a smaller guardian fighter ship flying at the front of the station.
Here´s a screen(no mockup) of the current state. It shouldbe easy to imagine the gameplay from looking at it.
The guardian ship follows the mouse but is bound to the front of the station.
Building the station is of course also mousecontrolled.

(preferably played scaled up as you might see)

What works currently?
isometric drawing of objects
placing buildings
dragging roads, with A* pathfinding
shooting default laser
spawning of enemy ships

Whats more to do?

animations
units using the station roads
gui
game progression structure
more of everything (buildings, units etc.)

If you get any own ideas how this should play you are very welcome to post them, even music and art, nothing is set in stone jet but the core stuff.

This is a very cool idea! Kinda like SimCity meets Space Invaders? It would help me generate suggestions if you had a working demo for me to play with.

This is looking very nice, in terms of both graphics and gameplay.

Thanks all for your positive comments! Coffee

Im sorry but im gonna work a little bit more on it before i upload something playable

Yeah kinda! except im more inspired by those sierra/impression games citybuilders, caesarIII and Pharao for example, really like those. They're so much cosier than SimCity Smiley.

I made some more ships. Low-res isometric ships is kinda tricky to get right looking i say.

Im having some fears concerning the gameplay. That its maybe gonna end up like two separate chunks of game just played next to eachother, get the problem? Well I have some ideas that might connect the two parts a little more:

Enemy fire damages your buildings (off course Roll Eyes)

Build cannons on the station that damages the enemies

Your lasers uses power generated by buildings on the station

Missiles require stockpile space on the station

You have to dock the guardian ship to load over more missiles

Blast incoming asteroids into smaller chunks to allow ore refineries to grapple-beam them and drag them in.

more ideas are very much welcome!
