I have heard some people asking for an extension to the competition time. I think that, as usual, people plan their games to be completed in a month, and as usual you always take more time to do something than you initially assumed.
As such, I'll be running this poll for the next week, and depending on the results (I won't just consider the highest-voted option), I'll add a one week extension to the competition time.
So, do vote and post your feelings on this.

I voted no, because I like having a specific deadline. Now I just hope I finish next week and not look like a douche for posting this.

As I said in the compo thread, if there is more time given, it is at least justified for this competition topic, as it does lend itself to larger games, because a cart has a lot more room to work than a single mechanic or theme.
And lots of people seem to be thinking big for this one.

I can probably get my game done by next weekend, but I wouldn't mind an extra week. Voted don't care.

Voted yes even though my game is done. I crammed way too many hours into the first couple of weeks of the compo (16-hour days on the weekends, ugh) and made myself ill; I'd like to see lots of finished, quality games without other developers needing to do the same.

yes! So much BS (for me) has occurred since the competition started that the deadline hit me in the face like a board.

YES. Please. I am starting to panic. And I'm working even slower, because I feel doomed.
Thank you for asking. ♥
P.S.: Please!

An extra week would probably help to compensate for the effect the Steam sale has had on my productivity, but that said I think there'll be people (myself included) rushing to finish at the last minute regardless of when it ends so I'm inclined to say no.

It would be nice because I have to go away for a week and where I'm going has slower internet than a network in the former Soviet Union, if it even decides to work. Sometimes polar bears chew on the phone lines.
Then again, I'm only entering for fun... not to win, so my game won't be very spectacular - I'm making it with limited time and resources.
It's up to you Melly. I think it would be best to be up to majority vote IMO.

One word: Starcraft (2) I have it lying here on the table and on 27.7. I HAVE to play it...I will be strong and reserve time for the competition, but my game is not far enough anyway. So I absolutely vote yes for the extension

I will be able to finish on time. But an extra week would be nice to really make my game shine.

I voted yes because: * I have a milestone at work by the end of July, so I will probably be unable to work on the game this week (and probably neither next weekend) * Another competition (@ADVA) finishes the 31th, which I sort of abandoned but want to wrap the game up so it has at least a win-state.

I woted yes, because if given another week, I will probably have time to release more than just a beta-build of my game. I also think that this compo has many promising and ambitious games and that the overall quality of the final releases will improve if given a little more time.

Btw, can this poll end before the compo deadline? Just in case "no" wins so I have time to put my game on the Finished games topic. Thanks!

I'm having trouble deciding... I only really got a chance to start my game today, so a week might not make a brilliant game. On the other hand, having only 7 days might help me get my butt in to gear.

I vote to stick with the original deadline. There's nothing preventing people from polishing their work beyond this competition's expiration. Maybe there could be a seperate thread for collecting updates and refinements after the competition deadline elapses(?).
