MAIN VOTING This is it guys, time to vote for best game of the compo! Each one of you has 7 VOTES to spread, so spread them wisely! Remember, everybody spent a lot of time and effort into making these games. If you made a game for the compo, it's common courtesy to not vote for yourself and instead spread your votes to everybody else. The poll will run for 3 weeks. More than enough time to play all the whopping 67 games of the compo! ...I hope. Holy crap that's a lot. Check all the entries here or here! And be sure to offer feedback as you play!

That time limit seems a bit short. You'd need to play over three games a day to play them all in that time, and some of them are quite long. I'd rather not have to rush through them.
I'd also suggest a rule against voting for your own game, since it's impossible to judge your own work without bias. It's just too familiar.

Not voting for your own game is kind of common sense, isn't it? There's no way to even enforce that, so why bother? If someone wants to be a douche, let them. I doubt anyone that put the work into making a game for this would do something like that anyway. The compo's been going for very long already. If it's necessary and enough people request it, I can extend to poll later, but for now I think it's good enough. There are plenty of games out there that are playable in a few minutes. Long games are rare in these compos.

Melly, are you still going to hand out other awards as well as discussed earlier?

I always figured voting for yourself was a given. (But I won't do it this time.)

I'm thinking. Making these huge polls are a pain in the asshole, so I'm thinking of doing something a little different. Maybe. We'll see soon enough.

Thanks for giving us multiple votes, Melly! I was trying to toss up between probably objectively the best game, the game I personally liked the most and about 10 other titles I thought were interesting enough to warrant some recognition. Now I can vote for all most of them :D

What do you mean?
I have the feeling I'll just answer you with "don't think too hard about it".
EDIT: edited the "whooping" on the first post. Droqen's fault.

You should make a front page post, reminding people to come in and play the finished games and vote.

I'm not an editor.
Maybe you can help me pester one of them to do so. Paul said he would eventually, but he might have forgotten about it.

I don't think there's any way I'll be able to play all of these (classes start this month, and my free time is going to decrease significantly), so I feel like I shouldn't vote. Everything I've seen so far has been pretty great, though! It's impressive how much work so many people put into this competition.

Dude, I'm already halfway through. Just get playing, you can do it. I'm pretty sure if you use a whole Saturday or Sunday you could play nearly everything easily.

I already played 'em all. A sign I have too much free time, perhaps.

Nice cover, Melly! I always figured voting for yourself was a given. (But I won't do it this time.) Well, I dunno about the given thing. Times I was pleased with what I've created, I voted for myself. When I wasn't, I didn't. But the more I think about it, the more I reckon that voting for self should not be allowed. I have a full time job and two kids and I've made it to MADRIS already :p
I wants your job. OR your kids. No, the job.

I'm struggling to play them all because my current Windows setup is giving me a DirectX error with most of the Windows entries. All my drivers are up to date so I don't know what that's all about. Not sure if I'll be able to get hold of another machine before the voting deadline.

I always figured voting for yourself was a given. Me too. It is common practice in political elections, where you are supposed to vote for your own party. I see no reason why it would be wrong to vote for yourself, if you think your game is good enough. Either put up a rule saying " don't vote for yourself" or a rule that says " you may vote for yourself". Apparently it doesn't work to assume that everyone reasons the same, without clear instructions.

The difference here is that you have 7 votes, also there's no prize, so I don't see why you should vote for yourself. Still I don't think a single vote will really make a difference.
To me these compos are like running a 10k race or something. Is not about beating the others it's about beating yourself in one way or another. Also to have tons of fun.
So spread the votes, it's a given you liked your own game. After all, you spent a lot of time making it.
