I have written a remake of Paratrooper, a DOS game by Greg Kuperberg from 1982. (Which was itself a clone of Sabotage, 1981.)

In this game you take control of a gun at the center of the screen, taking out helicopters, paratroopers, jets, and bombs. Once four paratroopers have landed on either side they will try to destroy your gun; the only way to kill a landed trooper is to have another trooper fall on them. In my version two heroic dogs will also attack landed troopers, but after each attack they have to rest for a while!

The gun has quite a fast rate of fire so in that sense the game may seem easy. When playing for a high score though, it is important to know that each shot costs 1 point, so not too many bullets should be used on each target.

The game was written in Blitz Max.

The music is by coda: http://coda.s3m.us

Controls: left and right arrows to aim, Z (or Space, or Y) to shoot, Esc to quit

Direct download (Windows version, 3.6 MB):

I also have OS X versions on my homepage:

Thanks!
