I think that's a little different. Notch's account suddenly ballooned almost overnight, whereas Kickstarter are an established and well known company who would probably approach their eService operator beforehand to make sure they can fully integrate the services as needed. I doubt they would suddenly freeze Kickstarter's account for unusual activity like they did to Notch.

I know it lacks the exposure and trafic of Kickstarter but http://www.indiegogo.com is pretty much the same and it allows international projects to be started. Better that than nothing, I guess...

I guess it's better than nothing. I could use a bit of funding for my current project.
