Following up the Oakland/Berkeley get together, let's plan another get-together some time towards the end of this month / beginning of next month!  The idea is to just spend an afternoon in a coffee shop or similar, hanging out, chatting, perhaps coding.

Who's interested?  Have suggestions for a time and/or place?  (Last time we were at Ritual Coffee in the Mission, but somewhere a bit more quiet might be nice.)

edit -- Tentative Official plan is:

Saturday, November 20
Starting at ~2:30 PM
At Noisebridge in SF

Getting in to Noisebridge instructions:
Location: 2169 Mission St. between 17th & 18th.
It's above a produce market.

Ring the bell with their logo on the metal gate and you should get buzzed in after a few seconds.

Count me in. Ritual wasn't too bad despite it being hipster mecca... Although I'm probably not gonna drop $7 on a cup of coffee again  Tongue

I'd be interested, I'm in San Jose, but it's not that huge of a trek to get up to Berkley or SF. I've also got a highly flexible schedule these days. Let's get something scheduled!

I'll propose Sat. 20th, or Sun. 21st. That gives enough time for people to make plans, and is still ahead of Thanksgiving entanglements.

And I'll re-suggest Henry's Hunan as a meeting place, (early dinner?). They are quieter than Ritual, close to BART, and have family style tables that seat ten people. I'm thinking of the one on Natoma St. Open Daily 11:30am-9pm. Prices are cheaper than Herbivore.

I'm thinking I might hold small gatherings at my place on weekends, too. That is, if you don't mind coming out to the Sunset. My place isn't huge but my room is big enough for a few people to hang out in and brainstorm, hang out, and work on stuff. I've invited Dan Fessler and Stevie to come kick it this weekend so we can talk about the art and music side of the Madhouse remake Smiley

I'm down, for sure. Nov. 20 sounds good.

Regarding location: A restaurant wouldn't be the best choice. It's not polite to stay for long periods in a restaurant.

Has anyone considered Noisebridge? It's a "hacker space", kinda like Hacker Dojo, on Mission between 17th & 18th. It could definitely accommodate a party of our size. And for food, Arinelle's is about a block away, real good pizza for the price.

I'd love a chance to meet other devs around here (I'm in San Jose), especially since I didn't get to make it to TigJam!  I only have access to a car on Saturday nights (after the wife gets home from work) or Sundays, so getting up to SF might be tough.

think I can also do the 20th.  also agree dinner places are nice, but not really ever a "work" environment.

the noisebridge place looks intriguing.

Heh, nice, phubans Smiley

So, looks like tentatively the 20th, *somewhere*

I'm interested in noisebridge as well, but not sure about the details -- has anyone been there?  Is it reasonable to think we could just mosey in on a Saturday afternoon and they'd be there to let us in, and okay with it?

Yes, I've been there plenty. They're open 24/7 and can easily hold a crowd of our size. There is one main room and a few smaller workshop rooms, which we could hijack for our purposes if there's no scheduled class in them. I don't think they're ever closed for private events, but if they were it would be on their calendar. (Incidentally, it looks like they have Minecraft sessions on Saturday evenings.)

We just gotta be respectful of the space and other hackers/humanoids, but I don't think that will be an issue. :>
