Psychopomp:
My entry into the Ghosts & Makers competition.

The overall concept of the game places you as a psychopomp whose goal is to escort the recently departed to their afterlife.

My first instinct was to go with a silly Lemmings-style game. After mulling it over I decided that wasn't too hot, and now I'm thinking of an adventure inspired by the television show Dead Like Me. You go into a hotel, office building, secret military complex, or whatever, and it's your job to figure out who's going to die and collect their soul.

The exact circumstances of the death may be randomized, although I'm not sure I can handle procedurally generating the entire game world, so I'll need to put some serious level design into this.

I'll keep this devlog as the idea evolves and I build some assets.

That sounds pretty cool.

Also I love Dead Like Me, so I definitely want to see this develop!  Kiss

Seeing as how it's Black Friday weekend and I am a retail manager, and I've also had relatives to entertain for Thanksgiving, I haven't had much time or energy to dedicate to the project so far. Timing sucks, but I hope to make serious progress tomorrow, at the very least with an actual core gameplay concept.

I like the word 'Psychopomp'. I like the way it sounds. I also like the direction this game sounds like it might go in.

You could say that, in two ways:

I like the way Psychopomp sounds.

I hope things went well for you regarding your last post! :3
