Thinking about it, there is on other tool/engine that cross-platform indies would find useful for 3-hour game. Inform 7 [ LINK] is great for text-adventures. The earlier versions are typical of the Z-machine style, powerful and yet easy to use, but version 7 changed the language so that you define the world in normal English. The Courtyard is a room. "The courtyard lies before you, lit only by flaming torches which make the shadows dance malevolently." The Black Knight is here. The Black Knight wears armour.

version 7 changed the language so that you define the world in normal English I rate Inform7 very highly, but the claim that its language is "normal English" is more than slightly misleading. It uses normal English words, but the syntax and grammar are just as arcane and demanding as any other high level programming language.

My two cents: Yeah, I don't know about I7 in a jam setting - I've seen a couple of people try to use it, then get tripped up on syntax, and there being no other people who knew how to use it around, nothing could be done. It'd be fine to use it in the presence of someone who was properly familiar with it, though.

You might be right. I have never used I7 as anything but a way of introducing scripting languages to people who would be scared of 'real' scripting languages. I think Ren'Py is probably the way I would go if I were making anything text-based in a short time-scale.
As long as we have an internet connection, no matter how congested, I can check the help files and it should be fine.

Internet access at CB2 is free, but very patchy, both weekends I've spent in and around there have had large chunks of time where it wasn't accessible at all. It's definitely best to not rely on it, download the reference material you need before you head there

Yeah, as a safety measure it might be best to download what documentation you can prior

In my experience those who think they are bad are often better than those who think they are good so I'm sure you'll be fine My english is pretty bad anyway and I was born in the damned country.

Is there anyone who would like to go but can't owing to money concerns (that some amount under £100 might fix)? Someone donated some money that can be put to use to the ends of helping to get someone here who mightn't otherwise be able to afford it.

I would love to come, but UK government doesn't love me. ):
I can't afford myself UK visa, so I can only go to European jams that do not take place in UK.

Planning to come, but not going to book until I've sorted out time off work, travel plans, money, learning a new language/toolset to use for the weekend, and ARGH it looks like a lot of commitment. Can't I just turn up and get drunk?
I kid, I kid. I'm hoping it'll be a giggle. A playable game in 3 hours still sounds superhuman to me at the moment, though.

For those still deciding:
10 tickets left out of the original 35.
