I like the "Need help with your pixel art?" thread. Would a subsubforum specifically for getting critiques, doing exercises, and sharing references be a good idea, or is this subforum big enough to hold everything? Basically, the current board would be for showing off cool stuff (either your own work or stuff you admire) and having fun, and "Art Workshop" would be much more formal. Post in Workshop and you can expect people to critique your work, edit it, etc. Enter as chewed bubblegum and leave as a slab of iron, that type of thing. Kind of like the atmosphere at Pixelation, maybe, but for all art, not just pixel art. Whaddaya think?

Sounds about right. Most of the workshop or art improvement threads sort of disappear over time. Keeping it all in the same subsubsubsubsubforum might keep them more active, I think.

Sounds like a tremendous idea derek, but people should really keep in mind they will get critiques when posting there.

The only thing is when you post art usually people critique it anyways. However, one being more formal than the other would make it work I think.

Why not just a subforum for critique based on the other subforums? I don't think a SUBsubforum is necessary.
Good idea though

Did anyone else hear that? It sounded like the wind... I jest, but really, I'm on the fence on this. As some have mentioned, it would devalue the current show of your pixelwork thread, since most people already critique in there, on the other hand, it does seem like a pretty good idea since the help with pixel art thread is really taking off.

Make it... so I can destroy thy inhabitants I like it, even if it depopulates the current art forums to a certain degree. But, Pixelation of course fills a niche of the same role, and there are numerous digital-painting focused forums, so you could argue against it as being slightly redundant. The only thing I can think of that doesn't have a critique forum available (that I know of) would be animation.

real art looks like the mona lisa or a halo poster and is about being old or having your wife die and sometimes the level goes in reverse

It could be a more general area for critique, actually. You could have the Feedback forum have a sub-forum of "Art-Critique", since the theme fits.
Really though, it'd make more sense here. Just pointing out.

Couldn't people just say in this forum if they are looking for critiques?

An entire subforum? Hmm, why not just a post tagging system similar to that of the devlog forum or the feedback forum. You can have a tag for seeking critique, or a workshop thread, or just a art-dump thread.

I think it might spur people to post more of that stuff if there's a whole forum for it. Also, you could sticky a bunch of threads... we're almost reaching critical mass on stickied threads in plain ol' "Art". Pixelation has "featured" threads that show off art with the most improvement after feedback. We could also sticky threads that have links to tutorials, references, and other stuff. It seems like a lot of people are excited about it, so let's try it out. Worse comes to worse, we'll just move the threads back and delete the forum. EDIT: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?board=45.0

I'd like to request that the drawing exercises thread I started earlier this week be moved to the new sub-forum. http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=16420.0It's certainly still a "work-in-progress" thread but I feel it contains some slightly useful information. There is a lot of information to cover and anyone can feel free to add their own to the list. Edit: Thank you
