Hello! This is Pocket Protector's devlog. Pocket is an action RPG which focuses on fast-paced action. I began this project in December 2010. It's came a long way since then! You can play the first release here, which was released this past June. Now the game is being re-imagined into a full experience. To get a peak at what I've been doing, check out some of the links below. I particularly recommend the videos. Those are good. A man's pockets are his own private kingdom. I'll protect them with my life! This looks really cool, I particularly like the arcade rpg thing you've got planned. Also it's quite pretty. Would look forward to playing this.

Thanks I just added spell leveling, so as you grow your magic grows more powerful too. I'm going to have to do a hell of a lot of balancing. [EDIT] Update on my progress: I fail really, really, really, hard at making music. Really hard.

I added a new enemy today, the Wizard. (partly inspired by the wizard enemy in Hempuli's "It's a Frickin' Cave" ) He shoots magic bolts at you! ... It be crazy (safe from harm.... Thank you, wall..) I also updated the color palette on the backgrounds. Things feels so much more readable now, I must say. [EDIT] adding guarding for both players and enemies. It's also completely possible to deflect enemy attacks back at them. [EDIT2] I just had a deflecting fight with a wizard.

Today's Updates(So Far): Added the final primary spell. Updated the GUI layout a bit Reworked some internal structure Added signs so I can communicate text to the player Began working on The Pocket Animations for other weapons Failed hard at writing musicTake a guess at what the final primary spell is: Below is a small teaser for The Pocket: And yes, I WILL keep posting updates, even if no one is commenting. (in the hopes that eventually someone will have something to say)

Looks cool! Although it looks a little weird that some things (the green slime, the blue box) have black outlines while nothing else does.
Keep posting those updates!

I WILL! Looks cool! Although it looks a little weird that some things (the green slime, the blue box) have black outlines while nothing else does.
The green slime... It was so hard to differentiate him from the grass, even after I changed palettes to the darker grass. Any ideas? And I was sitting here staring at my game for about 3 minutes trying to figure out what you meant by blue box.... And finally got it. I'll change that, thanks. @Stamos Dude Thanks!

Trying to make that as soon as I can, while having the game in at least a bite-size of what it will be. Make it a black, gray, red, or blue slime?
Derp. Time to recolor My other concern is, since the player can change their clothing color(from the standard blue that you see now) to a wide range of colors. Do I slap an outline on the player, or do I risk potential blending with the background? Limiting the palette options of the player would also work, but I'm not sure if I like that. --- A preview of what's to come!

BEHOLD THE HAPPY HAT SHOP You buy hats with "Hat Points" that you get from clearing missions. It's the only type of thing you can buy in the game. Hats. Kudos to anyone who gets what I'm alluding to with the shop's name. Obviously, I'm going to fill the shop up more as time goes on!

I got that almost instantly: Is it the Happy Mask Shop from LoZ OoT, or is my memory playing silly tricks on me? As for the project itself, it is looking quite interesting, and shaping up to be a fun little arcade experience. I'm really looking forward to playing it. (All games are better with hats)

Ah, good idea. I'll need to look into dynamic image loading, though. I got that almost instantly: Is it the Happy Mask Shop from LoZ OoT, or is my memory playing silly tricks on me? Damn straight! One of the games that inspired this one. Bwahahha~ And thank you, of course. Hearing stuff like that helps keeps me going! A bald midget is just a bald midget. But a bald midget with a hat is infinite.

Funny, isn't it? You add hats, and suddenly a whole bunch of people are interested in your game. I will keep this in mind :3
