JWG - Both are cool! Not to say you haven't improved, they just feel like they're 2 different styles. I actually like the left one more because of the simplicity of it, but don't let that make you think you haven't improved. The sample size is just so small!
Letsap - I like the Right one more. With a simpler background, the focus is more on the are of higher contrast, i.e. the characters and objects. And personally I just don't care for the stripey pattern. There might be something else you could do down underground to add detail, like hints of rocks and pebbles, that might also work... But myself, I'm also okay with nothing there at all (i.e. Right.)

Speaking of new HUDs.. I went from Zelda to SMetroid. Item radar, health, ground thickness, clock, enemy radar. Naturally, not everything's there at the moment.
Also, ground left or ground right?
Oo nice, you should have a day indicator too. Like Pikmin, but maybe simpler. Also I like the right.

Well, the were both attempts at the same style, so I thought it was a fair comparison.

letsap: Can you walk on the ground that's below the grass? If so, right. Otherwise, definitely left. I like the left texture more, but if the player character is going to be directly imposed against it, it might not work too well.

you have to fix those land tiles. they are so blocky. especially that right angle in the first pic
It's only like that because it's a debug room. Here, I added detail to that spot. Delicious- That's looking great so far!

MartyMan@ I cannot wait for your game. Delicious@ Those colors look great! Thanks for the crits, everyone! I am reworking the stickers and making another 2 palettes. If I sold these on my new website, would anyone buy them? I'd be selling some posters I'm working on right now as well.

WIP. Not sure how I feel about the dithered portions. Makes sense for the trees, but pops out too much on the eyeball island. Hearts aren't finished.

I have no idea what's going on there, but it's awsomely stylish. Is it for anything?

Thanks! The finished version will be the title screen for a shooter I'm working on. It is a psychic ghost-cat version of the plot from Ms. Pacman. Two cats on parallel journeys through inner-space will eventually meet and open the cave of monsters.
It's a love story.

When I found out that the ds can emulate DOS with dsx86 (with the power of a 286...), I immidiatly began trying out DOS programming on it, and it works! So now I intend to make games on the go. I want to make a very retro Amiga-ish game. I'm thinking something like a Gods metroidvania maybe? Anyway, here's my character for it Was using Gods screens for reference. I used a random "cool word" generator to suggest game names... I'm going with Xercule Why programming for dos and then emulating it? you can code directly for the DS with libraries like SDL...

Delicious - great personality to your dragon, and wonderful colors, too! I've been working on some idle animations for some new characters for MageMaze this weekend. Here's Bjorn the Bjoung, who sells you goods from his giant backpack: Yngrid the Ynsolent, a girl who may or may not be a damsel in distress: And a Stone Golem, who is, of course, and enemy you fight: Hope you like!
