I like them <3 but imo color palette kinda sucks little bit.

Yeah that was my honest opinion. Should I teach him to color theory with my half shitty english?

There is no rules for *color theory* as long your style works with it.


Thats the think i cannot give any constructive criticism about colors because the artist need himself to know how its work.

I'm definitely changing the background color and I'd like to redo bulbasaur, ivysaur, and venasaur since they're the first ones I did.

Thats is nice design but high dithering ruin this piece little bit. Im not anatomy expert so my edit might have anatomy problems..

My first "finished" sprite for a little game project I'm working on. He's supposed to be wielding a baseball bat and wearing a pot on his head. Can you tell?

@TheNineRings - The pot is fine, I think, though the shading is a little 'gradient-ish' for what it is. The bat, though, is harder to pick out against the white of his shirt. Given the thick outline over the whole character, I think you should outline it.

@Ashkin - That looks pretty good! I think the rock wall is pretty dark, though.

@Storsorgen - Haha, I read that comic. Pretty close likeness, though I think Reginald's thinner or taller (?). Nice work, though.

Nope. I outlined the bat, made the pot a bit less gradient-y (a more time intensive task for me to fix, gotta finish it later) and tweaked the shirt color scheme a bit so the hands are more distinctive.

That is exactly the feeling I wanted to invoke :3
Also, turns out that GBC restrictions dictate FOUR colors per tile, not three. This should enable me to fix up some irritating things (such as the farthest back roof tile)

Don't worry, I noticed the bat. The difference in gradient isn't visible, but that might be because of the bad monitor I'm using right now.

Transparent is a "color" so sprite has 3 and background has 4 on average.
