Thanks guys! I really don't understand how my artist does it either. I actually don't think he did this one in reverse. He did the door animation we have in reverse:

this incredibly pedantic bullshit should illustrate what i mean

also she kinda falls to the right for seemingly no reason; i recommend speeding up the animation (remove frames) and centering it

The amount of combined effects and techniques is really interesting. What's the background supposed to be like?

You mean what it goes in front of? Well that depends on the level. Here is the background for the first world, Brookstone Cemetery:

honestly that's take-or-leave, stark white balloons can look fine (and colored balloons can look awful)

Rabbit, I made dialog balloon a little bit yellowish and grey , so it's not a stark white as it could be  Wink

it is far and above the brightest thing on the screen and it doesnt fit at all

lower the opacity of the bubble, change the color to a cooler grey or blue, remove the bubble entirely etc. these are all good things you can do.

dum, the principle of released tension is the same

e: although not really because the rope won't pull her up to counteract the acceleration of her much heavier body like that.

also maybe the rope doesn't snap

dum of course a rope is not a slinky but it still transfers motion

i'm not saying the whole fucking rope should compact down and bap at the bottom before she starts falling, just that her falling at the same time the rope does is Awkward Looking Animation because that's Not How Things Move

uhhhh i mean the fact that she doesn't have downward velocity while suspended on the rope means there's tension

and a rope is kind of like a spring in that it'll exert force to retract after tension is released

so after being snapped it'll have acceleration in addition to gravity for a short while and lots more velocity near where it snapped than the bottom of the rope

so it wouldn't act like in the original gif probably

the point is that the top should be falling faster than the bottom because the part she is grabbing is farther away from the snap of the rope who cares if shes swinging
