@Canned - I think the middle one is more readable and more interesting visually. The legs on the right look like just gray sticks; it doesn't work as well as the more detailed skirt / shorts and boots.
The axe is awkwardly positioned on the right, as well. I'm assuming it's supposed to be behind her, but it has similar saturation and value as the rest of her, so it just kind of blends together. The angle of the handle is similar to her arm, as well, which doesn't work well. I'd recommend using shading to indicate the difference between foreground and background, and to emphasize forms and structure. Also, drop details that confuse things (like the handle of the axe). Keep things as readable as possible.
I'd recommend not outlining her "ear thing"; it probably is flush against her head, and so you wouldn't be able to see it fully. So, the outline wouldn't be visible. The
Slight shading on the hair's looking good.
Also, don't use almost the same color as the hair on the background.
