Working on an ostrich for Homestead (devlog here: https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=49421). Not entirely happy with the feathers here but it's a major improvement on the last version.

I love this duelyst stuff but then again it makes me shake my head at my own work in comparison!

Well, I was pretty reluctant to post after the Duelyst stuff Shocked, but here we go anyways. Giggle

One of my first pixel-art pieces ever (or maybe any kind of art in general), I'm a designer by trade.
It's for our up-coming medieval space-folktale, and based on concept-art.

Dang, you replied just as I was leaving for work earlier. But alright now, here goes:

I made some 'adjustments', so here's a side-by-side:

Again, though, to start, I love most everything in this. 8x tiles with 6x fonts are not easy, and you made a pretty great one Smiley

Now onto the critiques (muahaha)

First, you misspelled "minute" on the last line Tongue
I'm not sure the rounded/bulged inner pixels of the O/G/C/J/U/A look good. I cut them out on the right image.
I brought the apostrophes down a pixel, to keep them aligned in their rows better (don't look like commas for the line above, too).
The N's I thought would be better if both up-strokes were 2x, but then I realized for the sake of the style that the right side is fine as 1-thick.
1 pixel was added the the Y.
I added an ampersand (&) so the one row is less butting against the numbers Smiley
It looked like Run 'N Pun was off-tiled at first, so I "corrected" it, and then when I looked at it again, I realized that it was a "custom" 96-wide line, so it's actually fine. So ignore the right image's difference.
Though, actually the italicized U's in that line I changed to reflect the normal ones.
The 1's had the top cut-short by a pixel, gotta keep that horizontal 1-pixel consistency Tongue
The 9 looks good (I have issues whenever I try and get mine like that at larger sizes, so kudos), yet the 6 looks off. But that's a personal problem, so no worries there.
I modified the 5 a little.
You really like that type of 7 apparently, but I made a slightly different one.
The up-middle of the W was extended by 2 pixels.

Ok, I think that's everything. I'm not sure if that's a "critique" or just me showing how I would do it differently, and making a list of the changes. Most everything I did was for the sake of getting/keeping the letters tight, consistent, and readable.
The stuff I didn't mention, I liked (or liked enough I didn't feel like changing Tongue). Good job keeping the middle E stroke, H/A/F horizontals at the same height. Really like the "dotted" tiles affect. Nice almost-black, and the orange and tan compliment it quite well. Purple of the board seems a little weird (too saturated?), but you're just repeating colors, so that's fine.

If you have any thoughts, questions, or are offended at my essay's worth of words, lemme know Smiley

[weird edit: apparently my desktop renders purple-ish, whereas my iPhone shows blue. When I said purple I was referring to the tea cup on the board. I really need a new monitor…]

@fuzzgoddess, cool colours and use of them!

@chriswearly, thanks for taking time looking at it!
In "defence" of two of the points: "minuet" is wordplay, and I couldn't use an ampersand (though I wanted) as that's just not the title of the track (it's for an actual album back cover).
As before I can't really explain much of my thought process and intentions as it was a while ago and I don't really remember. With the 6*6 base and thick curves I wanted something chunky and kind of different from what I usually do. I think what you did still retains that while cleaning it up a bit. Your edit of the digits in particular are definite improvements.
oh and just for completion: the remaining letters:

I like the old better, it has personality, the other is generic bouncy cute character n°1964454564
I would keep the idea and adapt accordingly, it's like his running aiming down sight

I actually agree.  The uneven bouncing adds a lot of character.

I also think that the second one looks a lot more natural. Though if it's an enemy I could see the "character" thing apply.
