One of the last mockups i did for a posible platformer game.

Started as a pico8 experiment and finally just set the 16:9 resolution with still the pic8 palette colors but using only 4 to give that post-apocalyptic feel.

Still playing around with the idea and colors, so will see if finally this will become a game or at least start some kind of prototype and get feedback.

I love this! The limited colors really give it an interesting feel. I wonder if you made that water, or whatever it is, red, it might give it an even more apocalyptic feel. I hope you continue with this one. I'd love to try a demo.

Animation for a 3 attack combo for a small game I am working on. I am new to this whole animation thing, but have learned so much already. I am happy with the result of this one. Time to celebrate  Toast Left

Hi all. Can I get some critique on this? I am just trying to improve my choice in color palette and anti-aliasing at the moment. Just got back into practice. (I fumbled around on the first green one so it's admittedly crappy.)
Thanks!

They are really nice actually!  Smiley

a collection of some of the trees i've made over the last 10 years.
top left and bottom right have a glow effect on 'em but i can't find the non-glowy versions so just convert them back to pure pixel art with your imagination!
2nd from the left on top row was the first tree i made that i still have on my computer - it's 10 years old now.

I'm very new to pixel art (or art period) but I decided to learn it for my first game.  I actually didn't even really want to do the art but eventually got tired of looking for a reliable artist (also I had no money to you know... pay an artist with.)  This is where I'm at after a year or so of doing my own art.

I have been working a lot on backgrounds lately...

The tree in the dark is very suggestive! The silhouette gives me chills (in a positive way)

That was the intent!  It's for the game over screen.  Although at this point the menus on that screen cover up a lot of the tree, so... we'll see what I decide to do there.

What about placing the menu under the tree, directly on the hill?

Well, I make all of these images taller than they have to be because I don't really know if I'm going to need them in levels that have vertical scrolling or not, so what you actually see on screen is that but without a good chunk of the top and bottom.  Plus I'm trying to keep my menus consistent between all screens they are on.

But there are certainly other options besides right smack in the middle.  I'm the sole dev of my game so I usually have a million things to think about and I honestly haven't had much time to work on UI.

The pack is updated each week with all the new tiles i'm posting on twitter each day until april. The last ones are the 16x8 floor tiles.

The tileset can be downloaded free here Wink:
