The breasts are too pronounced that seems an ecchi game indeed.

face looks bootleg and too much dithering eyes and mouth should be lower unless it specifically emulates 90s-early 00s shitty animation where people had small foreheads and wide shoulders.

@Avantharis - I'd definitely tone down the dithering. I think the face looks alright, but I'm not a huge fan of the color palette as a whole. I can't put my finger on it, but it's not really jiving with me.
@Feeniks - Love the colors, very gothic. Reminds of Batman, weirdly.

That was a experimentation, something I noticed while looking around was a few screenshots from those old Visual Novels, is cases where the background would have a limited color palette, while the character themselves had a more wide color palette (also from what I have researched, some pcs from Japan for a while would have much higher resolutions, due need to keep characters, specially kanji, legible, but with less color depth). As I said, the use of "lots of dithering" was intentional, if you look old images sometimes you find lots of that.@LyricalReverie @Ordnas this image is not a part of any game, just some study, I do have an interest on VNs, and that old kind of art style is something I found curious and wish to give it a try (and mean art, not the plots or themes). @Feenicks amazing art! This a old one I made - again the dithering is intentional.

Dithering is better on old one. You have perfectly serviceable 3 or so tones for same color. Its ok on objects but schollgirl looks pillowshaded.
Thanks! I will keep an eye out to avoid more pillowshading, as I said this something I am still studying it.

@Cobralad: Ah, Balor of the Evil Eye. I tried playing it but didn't really get the gameplay. Absolutely gorgeous game though.

Amazing! It would be spectacular in a game level, with the clouds moving and sun going down.

Was originally supposed to be a game mockup, but got a little lazy Reflections on a flat surface don't get squished like that; your lake would have to be cylindrical for that to happen. This is such a weird common misconception. When you look into a mirror from even an extremely flat angle, do the proportions of what you see in it change or do they remain the same? If anything irregularities on the surface (like waves) distort the image to appear smudged out vertically.

I was debating whether to bring that up because I remember it coming up on these forums years ago, the flat reflection thing. The background in emerald hill zone from sonic 2 is one that comes to mind.
But sometimes you get something where it's not reflecting the base of the mountains but only the tops which at first can look squished. Maybe that's where the misconception comes from. Still looks very nice though!

Yeah. I got really lazy at the end there, and scrapped a lot of stuff, so just decided to do the water reflection with just flipping the image and calling it finished. But I squished it so more of it would fit into the screen, otherwise it looked even weirder to me composition wise when only half of the moon reflection was visible in the image, simply because there wasnt enough space. Might've been better to just leave it unsquished I guess.

Now that you mention yes, it is weird that the reflection is squished, but I would never noticed the error otherwise.
