@chris macadam
That technique is very successful! I don't think you need to clean it up, but I like rough edges. I wonder what other things you could render this way?

@xix, took me 3-3.5hrs did that one on stream @goshki ahh, haha true. I quickly whipped up some playable thing from the pack just to show how it could look, guess I made a lil mistake with the collisions :D

I made a colour palette! It’s called #NA16 and it’s a 16colour general palette. And should be useful for a lot of things. Hope you like it! If you make any artwork with it and post on social media, please tag it with #NA16 so I can see! ^^ Download it here https://www.dropbox.com/s/9428455kifqof92/NA16.zip?dl=0

100% want folks to make Zelda games w/ the tile set I made up there. Working on a pixel art logo to go with it.

Boss warning screens are among most important in shmups, they set the tone and atmosphere. So i made a cool one that will overlay over the screen.

Oooh, can you make a variant where different sections of the screen activate at slightly different moments instead of all at once? Like a boot-up sequence?

Good idea, but i don't have time the atm, this one took too long anyway. The other reason for probably not doing it is that the duration longer than 4-5 seconds before the boss would be too long for a shoot 'em up (at least for my liking).

Well, as is too many things happen in parallel and it kind of becomes a wall of unreadable visual noise as a result. A bit like how music doesn't work if you play all notes at once. BTW, your gif is oversized for the forums. Try

Thanks, i edited it.
I admit that your comparison with music makes sense, i'll give it a go with introducing element by element.
Thanks for constructive critique guys.

Good on you for taking the feedback in stride!
(I totally get that you're anxious about having to balance it with not making the player wait too long too)

Castlevania's tileset is way, way bigger than Zelda's. Edit: click for the whole stage.

Bought Aseprite last night. Doodled this guy trying it out. Tonight I tried to clean it up, add some color, and a basic animation. I don't really do larger animations a lot, I had some trouble even though its only 2 frames. Though I want to add a few more to smooth it out a bit tomorrow.

Hey, this looks really nice! Huge fan of T H I C K outlines in pixel art. I feel like the AA kinda hurts the readability on the smaller sprite though, especially on the face. Not sure what else you could to to keep it consistent with the portrait though...

Hi guys I'm very new user and a very newbie on pixel art, i got inspired from Dead Cells game from Motion twin studios and in those last days i decide to get practice on 3D to 2D pixel art I create a model (and texture) in Maya and make a simple run animation based on a this "toony" gif find on PinterestMy Model After that i renderer with custom optins and crerate sprites and animation and this si the final result :D (i'm not very good in animation i know ) but hope you like the result.
