About the 2 small boxes, I prefer the first one, I can see clearly the edge and I just recognize that it has 2 faces.

Ordnas, The Games Factory has a few transparency options (And, or and Xor) That and ms paint. In general I mostly re-use pieces of my existing art, combining and recoloring different bits.

Here's a frozen pier.

I used to swear by the K&P/TGF/MMF image editor. Since moving to Aseprite I forgot all the button commands, and it's like.. real sad when I try to draw in that editor again Sad

Getting some practice, did a little modular tileset and a character.

I think I got the perspective wrong, especially on the walls and character.
If anyone has some tips, it will be appreciated.  Smiley

Unless you're making perfectly orthographic art, you're always going to be stepping into non-euclidean geometry. At that point, the tiles are more like words describing a space than they are "actually realistic rendering".

If that doesn't make sense, you can literally _write the word_ in each tile and it should "make sense". Then you just fill in with a picture.

Code:

[cornerNW][top wall][top wall][top wall][cornerNE]
[westwall][        ][        ][        ][eastwall]
[westwall][        ][        ][        ][eastwall]
[westwall][        ][        ][        ][eastwall]
[cornerSW][southwal][southwal][southwal][cornerSE]

If that still doesn't help try taking an NES tileset  and just replacing the art for each tile but keeping the same arrangement.

I hope this helps!

Thanks! I really like your not-zelda stuff. Here's a few abstract things from today.

Wow man! How did you even make this? So trippy. Super cool!

This is what i've been working last week, a Crate game asset pack with around 1000 crates.

Cenital/Frontal , TopDown and Isometric that you can edit/use for your personal/commercial projects. No credit needed. Organized in 14 .PNG files with transparency.

Crates are in 4 custom colors, perfect for gameboy or NES styled games and 6 color. variant for high quality. You will find some with and without black outline and there is also an optimized Pico8 version palette too.
