FROM THE ATHOR"So I have finally begun this exciting project of mine and you will all witness it's birth! I don't have a full plan as to how this game will turn out yet, instead, I shall post updates here as time goes on with an image like the one above. I like to draft as much as possible when I work on games, it helps my work flow later on & it's great for saving those "cool ass" ideas that pop into your head during development. Sorry for the crappy writing." NEW PROJECT IDEAS- Sandbox RPG game, with RTS elements. Town construction & development, resource gathering, simple economy, simple warfare, numerous quests, numerous items. At the beginning of the game, the player starts with a lowly peasant. From this point on, it is completely up to him how he will play the game.
- Build your own settlement, or join and reinforce existing ones. The RTS elements should give the player the ability to establish resource collecting colonies/outposts, small villages, and even forts.
- Huge world map with 2-4 different villages. These villages are home to different cultures/races. The player should have ample space to build a thriving village in the middle of the woods and still be fairly far from the opponents.
- Tooltips to appear in the bottom right corner. This will help players learn whats what faster. Plus its nice.
- New Mouse Cursor. Perhaps a sword, or a hand with a pointing finger.
- The map is tile based. 50x50 px is on tile. I decided to do this to have an easy adn clear refference when it comes to scaling buildings and trees..
- Flags On Buildings. This is a concept that I really want in the game. The ability to choose your own banner and display it on your troops and buildings, as well as yourself. OR faction specific colors.. (red, blue, green, yellow.)
- Selection box. Or, how to select multiple units with the mouse in GameMaker. I need to find a tutorial for that.
- Possible Buildings: Manor House (Player's House), Villager Huts, Warehouse ( resource gathering) Tavern (NPC hiring, etc.)
Thanks For Checking My Project Out. Peace.

TREES"Trees can be cut down to collect wood. Wood is an essential part of construction and village development. Without it, you cant build, and you cant craft primitive weapons such as bow & arrows, spears, wooden shields. Wood is chopped down by either the player if they have an axe, or by a lumberjack, which is one of the many jobs peasants can take up."All art done by me. Holla if you want to use it.

TONIGHT'S PROGRESS- Trees look sick. I will add some more later for variety.
- Trees have a "shadow" instance that I think I should move down a few pixels. This is to give the game depth.
- The map is 6000 X 6000 pixels. The main "view" follows the player. Player in this picture is the lonely "shadow"
Thanks for checking out the progress!

ABOUT THE PICTUREThe top part is a draft minimap. As you can see, there would be two settlements, the reds and the blues, and a black mercenary camp. The fourth corner is reserved for the player to exploit in safety. The bottom half of the page contains doodles. Some very early sketches of houses and tents. A sword too, to just give this shot some medieval flavor.

NEWSGot a new grass tile which in my opinion looks a lot better. Added a new tree! Also, the trees now "sway" randomly in the wind. Fixed the shadows, and also made sure that they dont overlap trees.
