This probably won't come as a surprise to anyone, but I'm not going to be able to finish this project. Between
making a game for the Global Game Jam, winning an award for that game (and an unexpected trip to Europe!), and finishing my most difficult quarter of college so far, I haven't had time for this contest. I was really looking forward to making this game, too!
Here were my plans for the game, anyways. It would be just a simple minigame, but it would require over-the-top animations and effects to really be enjoyable, and I haven't had time to make all those.
Each player would press a button to start drinking a bottle of soda. You could then release the button to burp. If the player spent more time drinking, the burp would be louder and be worth more points. To make things interesting, burping would end the round, so whoever burped first would be the only one to score. The players would keep playing for more rounds until one player had a certain number of points.
The fun would come from balancing the reward of scoring more points for a large burp with the risk of the other player burping first and not scoring any points at all. Ideally, the game would be all about reading your opponent.
Who knows? Maybe I'll still make this some day. But it certainly won't be finished this weekend.
