Worked a good deal on this today, optimized and cleaned up my physics wrapper a bunch.

The minecraft-y stuff now takes about a 150th of a second on average (on my beefy machine...) to add/remove a block and do a rebuild of the geometry+physics, for a 16x16x16 chunk.

You can also now "shoot" which creates a nice explosion effect and blows up blocks in a given radius.

I'm thinking maybe of doing something where the players get a minute or two to fortify their area with blocks and such, then they try to blow up each other's bases with artillery or something...

Still alive... been busy with school, but I got to doing some lighting today. Works about the same as minecraft.

Still working out a lot of issues, but it's been a fun challenge...

It's attenuation is linear at the moment, and with high ambience, so the grading isn't as noticeable (I believe minecraft scales lighting exponentially).

Read up on how minecraft seems to do lighting and pretty much replicated it (with minecraft textures for added effect...):

Still needs mucho optimization, but so far so good...

Still no gameplay, but whatever, I'm having fun, and that usually eventually leads to something resembling a game....

Haha, here's a more original one, with a more complex environment:
