Warm Gun: The Second Coming of the Wild West

A futuristic wild west, Warm Gun combines the favorite motifs of the classic western genre with the scraps of an obliterated technocracy. This spun western lets you take control of 6 original characters; choose from weapons new and strange and a wider range of modern contraptions with primitive power. Classic and innovative, undoubtedly original, every FPS player will find happiness with Warm Gun.

World War III has been fought to the tipping point and ecologists long unheeded cries have been silenced by the grim truth of their predictions. To the last drop of oil have the worlds resources been depleted, and only sporadic traces of modern structure can be sifted in the dust. Time ticks forward but humans must retrace their advancement back, through a history that has already been lived and to the Wild West for the second time around. We have trampled ahead to the past in muddy boots, to the United States of late 19th century. Greeted by the ghost of the wide-open country, the exhausted land is barren too, of all the old dreams we fulfilled beyond our means.

Excellent texturing, but your post is just a advertisement blurb! Are you a real person? Huh?

From the looks of the video, this looks incredible!  But I'm going to agree with Inane and say your post came off as a bit of advertising.  Regardless, I'd love for you to stick around and become a member of the community.

It's a porno for texture artists and level designers.

Unreal Development Kit. Also, multiplayer, yay.
I couldn't find any info on whether it'll be freeware or a sold thing; with the quality of the assets it seems more likely the latter, but independently published FPS games (almost?) always fail to get enough people to carry a community, which leads to their collapse.

I see what you did there Big Laff
The screenshots look great; it's good to see a game made with UDK that isn't brown.

Why is there scotch tape on that logo?? Anyways, it still manages to look awesome... Wow

EDIT: You know, the game looks great, but the high quality actually stood out as peculiar among the other games posted here. It's pretty obvious that this game is being developed by an actual game company, not an individual or small group... Which begs the question; does this still pass as indie? Or is this just shameless advertisement on our forums? Or are you just marketing the game as indie because it's trendy and will let you get away with more mistakes, while impressing people more in the long run because they won't expect as much (great marketing strategy, I guess)...

I don't mean to be overly critical, but I'm just wondering where the line is drawn at "indie"... You don't really tell us anything about yourself; no introduction about you or your team, just a marketing blurb for the game along with some screenshots that look good enough to stun people into being impressed with your game instead of questioning your credibility. After a little more research, it turns out your only two posts on this entire forum are in this thread, and I guess the whole, "yes, I'm real" thing was enough to convince people that this wasn't just spam, but now it's pretty obvious to me  Concerned

When people come to this forum to spam their warez, be they companies or individuals, it's akin to some dude just walking into your home and dumping out a bag of shit all over your dining room table, making a huge mess and knocking everything over while completely oblivious to anyone around him. Then, before gathering his shit back up and leaving the place a wreck, he smiles and leaves a handful of his business cards behind and slams the door smiling. He doesn't give a shit about you, your home, or the community within. He's just there to do his routine of selling his shit to you in a very routine and disrespectful manner.

Just something to think about before barging into communities and selling your stuff.

You bring up a good point, when does indie stop being indie?

I say that that the line is drawn with >10 people working full-time on a project. Or when there is more than a Million USD of initial funding.

However the game looks great... like an indie(?) mix between fallout and borderlands. By any chance is the designer of this game Russian?

You bring up a good point, when does indie stop being indie?

Wouldn't accepting any amount of money for a game to be made, officially make you no longer independent? as you would now have become dependent on the cash from someone else in order to make your game?

Independent developer - Someone who makes games alone without any sort of financial backing besides his own.
Independent studio - A group of individuals without any help from publishers or distributors.

I think of indie as a group of people or individuals doing what they do independently from any sort of financial support, because to receive support makes you no longer independent.

Some people here might disagree with my term of "indie" I'm just kind of borrowing how the term "indie" is used to describe bands without macho record labels.

But enough forum talk...
This game looks stunning in quality from a non-commercial studio.

Though I agree that the posting of this game is a bit peculiar.
Do you intend to use this forum at all in order to show the development of your game?
Being that this is a DevLog I'd expect some development status from this thread if that was the reason for making it.

Otherwise yea, this just appears to be an advertisement in the form of a thread.

If you're using this forum to get critique and suggestions then;
One thing that seemed a bit "weak" visually to me in the game play video was the explosion from the barrel.
The explosion was quite "petite" and the graphic wasn't all that convincing of force hope that's worked on if it's a tiny feature of your game for killing.
