Hey guys.
I am Matt over at Facerocker.com. We are making our first iPhone game. I worked at Disney Interactive for the past 2.5 years as a Assistant Producer than Associate.
They game is also being produced by my business partner, Freddie Wong, which you may know from the FreddieW youtube channel.
I am looking for a generalist Programmer, who will serve as the programming lead.
All general requirements for a unity iPhone game - fluent in UNITY, C# or Java Script. Reliable, strong communication skills, experience using the iOS sdk, etc.
They will be working very closely with me. The game is has been paper prototyped and designed by myself for the past 2 months. I will also be acting producer and level builder, as well as helping on the unity end as much as possible (been learning since I left disney). It is a 5-7 hour action RPG (think streamlined, iPhone specific zelda with some twists and more humor). I would prefer someone in the Los Angeles area (or within a couple hours driving distance) so we could meet occasionally in person. This is however, a preference, not a requirement. Either way, you will be working remotely most of the time - but still, its more fun to work in person from time to time.
We have a decent sized budget for our game, and it is schedule for about 4 months (all things considered) starting mid feb. Much of the design work is already done. It is a design heavy game (action rpg title - think streamlined Zelda with a twist) with about 5-7 hours of content. Programming wise, it is well within the basic capabilities of UNITY.
The pay will be negotiable depending on your talent. Not sure the best way to say that, but if we get one guy that can do everything, it will be higher pay then if we have to hire two people. Still, look for a reasonable wage for a first time game, within 500-1k a week, and profit share will definitely be in the picture.
I placed this as contract work, though I am very much looking for someone who may be wanting full time. This is our first game, so it requires rolling with some of the punches. However, with our current fanbase from the FreddieW side, and my confidence in the execution from the game, the hope is that this leads to continual game development. I left Disney to do my own thing. I am in this for the long haul. Finding people who want to be part of the start of something, and continue to be part of Facerocker, is what I am really hoping for.
